Licence plate bracket anyone?

Hi guys,

where to start..

I would like to make a under tail/seat Licence plate bracket, Here is a link to the guide im currently following

I cant for the life of me find a trailer licence plate bracket!

Here's some pictures of a bracket im currently looking for




Does anyone have any ideas on where i could find a bracket similar to the one used in the pictures ive attached?

ive tried:
Mitre 10
Reids trailers
sever steel workshops
Super cheap auto
Repco
The list goes on...

Please Help!

Just drill new holes in the plate and go straight into the angle brackets with your bolts, weight reduction then too!

Or cut something out yourself, get more fancy that way

I would! however i have some LED bolts that i would like to use so i can get a WOF...

Plus you can get into deep Sh%t for drilling new holes...
Plus i dont have any tools to cut some metal, i wouldnt mind paying someone to do it for me..

LED bolts should still illuminate it enough if there are two in the middle I would think?

No you can't, plates don't come with holes in them to begin with, so it is expected you put some in; i guess you could get in shit if the hole was done in the center of a letter, with a 50mm hole saw, 2 extra 6mm holes at the top will be all good.

BNT sell trailer parts for homebuilts, and workshops that professionally build trailers, try them.
or use something else and modify it with a dremmel

Will look into BNT, if i cant find anything ill just drill two new holes in my number plate and go from there. bound to find someone i know with a decent drill.

I just used the metal bracket from the standard plate mount, the wide slotted end goes over those two bolts (replace them with longer bolts so it actually stays on), mount the plate to the short side. The angle of it was perfect.

Nevermind then. I dont think i even have the original bracket anyway.

So its on.. However im not sure if its legal.
Its at quite a steep angle, the reason for this is any lower and it would touch my tyre hugger when i sat on it, any higher and it would be completely hidden.

Has anyone ever had this problem with their zx6r? or bike for that matter?

No it wont hit if you have it at a 45 degree angle and have the top edge of the plate touching the undertray. Remember the tyre only travels the most (ie 110mm) at the axle line. the further back towards the swingarm pivot point the travel gets smaller.

it will be fine unless you weight 160kg, or have your suspension set like a bouncy castle.

hehe i loved the comment about the bouncy castle

so its installed on about a 135 degree angle, leaves me about 4-5 cm's worth of play before it hits my tyre hugger (even after im sitting on it). Heres a photo.


this is taken from about 3 metres away



Will take my bike out for a ride today, put some paper taped to my hugger and ill put some vivid on the bottom of my licence plate. will see if it ever touches! doubt it will but not sure if its legal.. its all Illuminated however the angle makes it hard to view..
