The Kerbinator is now and always was, a fine figure of a man ....... this can be attested to by the hundreds who were present in the Club Rooms one Teretonga prizegiving/post-match drinkies, and the "handover" of the shorts took place ! Could still hear him muttering as he drove away in his under-grunders, in the mighty Laser GT if memory serves ?????

Those were the good old days - North vs South fights, the Black Widow, OHHHHHH the memories ............

Fercrissake I'm still trying to forget a lot of that...including his habit of staying up till 2am then snoring VERY loudly for the rest of the night. How the hell I ever functioned properly at away meetings i still don't know.
How old's Stroud ? Does Trev still hold the record for oldest F1 National wiinner ? 42 when he won Teretonga.

Spyda must have taken lessons from him as he has carried on that tradition

I think you are right that the guy in the checked shirt is Chip Hennen, Don't regonise the chap in the John Woodley t-shirt. John often had mates from the airforce helping him like the Mark Lazenby or Stu Bone.

The bike is a Mk1 RG500 and it had the mono shock conversion as in the photo. The bike had a bit of a checkered past before before John got it as a rider died while racing it at Bathurst when the cast iron brake disc rotors gave up the ghost at the end of conrod straight, about 77. I actually got to sleep next to it as a young lad as it was stored in one of the baches at the Woodley farm. Last Time I was at John's he still had it in his garage.

As for the legend of the Kirby, let it remain legend.

    Budda,

hope it doesn't translate in nightmares for you.

Here's a shot of the bedroom with my room mate the mono shock RG500. There was also a TZ350C under the covers on the left.
