Replacing ignition barrel on a '89 RGV250, how hard is it?

    Hi Team,

Well Ive started doing some work to my much neglected RGV and since returning to the country cant seem to find the keys for it anywhere. The only thing I can think of is to find a second hand ignition barrel/fuel tank and replace them.

Ive never done it before but am keen to do it myself but Im after some advice from anyone who has done this sort of procedure before. Ill need to acquire a copy of the service manual but is it pretty straight forward?

    The manual is HERE

Cant imagine it too be very difficult.
You could take the barrel out and take it to a lock smith and they could cut one for you quite cheaply
There are a few rgvs being parted out on trademe so you shouldnt have any trouble finding a replacement.

You shouldnt have to replace the whole tank either, just the cap.
