My alcohol tolerance is pathetically weak. 4 drinks and I'm usually feeling tipsy. A couple more then I'm out.

I know what my limit is, so I usually have 1 then call it quits. Like EJK said, Coke and all that stuff are good substitutes. Who says that you need to be drunk to have fun? The drunken stories on the ride back as the sober driver may make for some interesting happenings the next day...

...my drug of choice is alcohol...i stopped drinking Lambs Navy Rum years ago...about the same time i stopped smoking Old Holborn tobacco...my tastes in rum have changed..Appletons is nice, Methusalem is the nicest...piss is the single most destructive element that our society condones...so many people that drink , shouldn't...life would be so much easier all round without it...but i couldn't handle the monotony...

Drinking and smoking used to be my thing. Then i quit smoking. Unfortunately that just meant I drank more, because I didn't have to go outside anymore. One of the dumbest things was going on a binge the night before an R&T series event at manfield. I was sick all day, and my times reflected it. Blowing the radiator hose was just the final nail for that day.

This is it. I'm sober for the rest of the year. Or until I get my restricted

I guess NZ does have a culture where we just have to drink until we are written off and suffering the next day. I am an occasional drinker with a VERY occasional binge. ANZAC day is one of those where I have more than my share and thankfully I woke up on the 26th feeling great, not normal after a big night. Other than that I very rarely drink although last Christmas I found I was drinking a couple of RTDs every night for no reason at all.

If you are concerned about drinking and think you may have a problem, GPs are a good start for advice(as in General Practitioner not something to do with speed!!!!)and I believe that AA do a good job if you reallly want to change.

A work colleague has not had a drink for 30 years, still calls himself an Alcoholic and says that even now, if he had a drink it would be the start of aa downward spiral. Alcoholism is not a weakness, it is an illness.

I must be Asian ... Or aboriginal... I only like drinks that taste like lollies. I love desert wines and Margaritas! But not much else.

Height of summer I might enjoy a beer with dinner but hate being drunk, I go from tipsy and enjoying a wee buzz to vomit in under 30 seconds.

    Hangover lasts a good week.

I kinda can't be bothered and my bike and life are to expensive at mo anyway!

That being said I don't really go out to pubs either.

I find them boring. Loud shit music and creeps and dumb drunk bitches looking for a leg to hump.

Yes I think it's official I'm old and uncool...meh I'm ok with that.

I woke up one morning feeling like crap after a night on the piss 25-30 years and decided it'd be the last time and stopped, I dont miss it and a few nights watching people turn into drunk fuckwits reminds me why I don't bother

The upside at the time was I got to thrash everone elses cars as the sober driver, downside was drunk mates telling me what a girl I was for not drinking and it took several months before people stopped trying to push drinks on me at parties

Im 46 this year and gave up the alcohol when I was 22. Why, cos Im a(more of a) fuckwit when drinking.Love stealing cars when Im pissed for some reason. If I go somewhere and there is booze I just have a coffee, all the people that know me know not to hassle me about not drinking.I cannot stand being around drunk people. I still like a toke every now and then though.

    Interesting thread.

Drinking was almost a sport when I was younger, last standing wins etc. Ended up in A&E so many times it makes me wonder how I survived past 25, okay 30.

Can take it or leave it now, but enjoy a beer after work occaisionally and a glass of wine or beer if out for tea or lunch, but more often now have a coffee.

Mind you this week I attended a couple of "business meetings" which got a little out of control and the way I am feeling at the moment makes me think that its just not worth it anymore.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

There's something wrong with you, man. I tried Appletons the other day and had to give away the bottle. Undrinkable lollywater.

The smell of coruba rum makes me hurl, I sculled a 40oz of the shit when I was 14 and ended up in hospital. I used to like pussers rum though. Jack or glenfidic were my favorite poisons.

My bike gets most of my booze money nowadays.

Speaking of which, it's "one for the road" time 'cos it's a great day out there.

I sculled half a 40 of Coruba at a similar age and hallucinated all the way home then hurled from one end of my bedroom to the other. It probably didn't help that I had an old Honda trailie parked in my bedroom, complete with fuel in the tank giving off fumes.

Don't be a bunch of pussies. Start distilling your own alcohol and HTFU.

I use to drink like a fish in my younger years
After my 30th birthday I woke up one morning and never touch a drop since.
As a young Solider it was the in thing, it was cheap, and it how you wound down etc etc
In my wiser years and job I see the direct and indirect social harm it does
I'm not hypocritical about it though, as shit we've all been there....
When I go out I find people very accepting that I don't drink.
It certainly never stops me from having fun or participating

I just wish I could give up bloody smoking as easy lol
