I like drinking beer - On average I probably drink about two bottles per month.
I like drinking red wine - On average I probably drink about two glasses per month.
I like drinking Whiskey (neat with a lump of ice) - On average I probably drink about one bottle bi-annually.
Gin & Tonic is one of my favorite drinks - on average I probably drink about four per year.
Whilst I do like a lot of drinks, I don't feel the need to cut back. Chocolate's another story though...................![]()
When you get home from work, scull a pint of water. It makes you not thirsty. Removing the thirst component is a small help towards not reaching for a bevvie.
Caffeine is a stimulant, and stimulants are vascolastictors(?) ie they narrow blood vessels. So the headaches and shit feelings that you're getting from stopping coffee are all these blood vessels relaxing and getting more blood and oxygen around the place, including your brain! Yay!
I'm seriously rethinking the coffee thing, I love coffee far too much to ever completely give it up.
Mmmmm coffee. Helping motivate me since forever ago. I've started cleaning stuff. This could turn out to be a not wasted sunday!
....coffee like cocoa isn't really a drink unless it's full of rum...hang in their GM if thats what it takes...white knuckle sobriety is generally a dead end road...to figure out why we drink and working on that part of life is more likely to help on the long road...i have medicinal reasons for drinking...life gives me the shits...less so when im pissed...
I know why I drink, and I know why I don't stop. Its not really that hard to put the two together. I did stupid things because I was drinking, and I'd rather not end up in the same situtation again. So I'm taking constructive steps towards fixing things instead of just letting them fester and screwing things up. Next step, involves deciding where I want to live. A big part of me still wants to return to Sydney, but I think thats more a case of yearning for previous comfort.
Time to put my girl girl panties on, and sort my shit out!
Oh, and ride in the rain. Thanks for being so obliging Wellington.
The good news is that studies show the body adapts to it as it does to many drugs. I have cut back on coffee but as it doesn't seem to do me any harm and I like it, I'll keep drinking it.
For a change I have Chai Latte or Caro.
I found the cheap coffee's give me heartburn so only drink the "better" brands like Mocona (sp), which are fine.
You don't get to be an old dog without learning a few tricks.
Shorai Powersports batteries are very trick!
You're doing well GM. All sorts of things may help. Herbal teas, lots of water, some exercise to sweat and get the oxygen flowing, various Liver detox type supplements containing Dandelion, Artichoke, St Marys Thistle and other natural remedies. Your local health store or pharmacy could recommend products to help your liver out.
Also eating less meat and more veggies may give the body a little break. Or if you have access to a juicer, there are books at the library that would recommend various juices you could make.....or just get a range of carrots, oranges, berries, melons etc, juice them and see what you like.
Or just buy the ready bottled fruit and veg juices from the supermarket. Theres V8, Just Juice and a Woolworths Select one. A few options on flavours and most of them taste pretty damned good and give you a couple of your daily fruit and veg serves in a glass.
Above all, remember why you are doing it and keep at it.
Is it bad that i keep a box of beer in the toolbox of my digger?
