Would you have an influenza vaccination?

So I've arranged for employees at work to get a free flu jab for this winter's version if they want it. 20% took up the offer.

If I offered you the same, free of charge and done at work would you say yes or no?

Never had one and dont agree with them. Mass immunise for the flu today means an even more virulent strain of flu virus tomorrow. It just doesnt make sense to me.

Normally I would agree. However, the flu virus mutates every year anyway.

Others that have had the flu jab have been the ones ending up sick, at least from what I've seen.

I have no objection to it on any grounds, I just prefer for my own immune system to do it's job.

When I get sick, it's clearly man flu and I'm dying.

I agree 100% The days when I worked in corporate, seemed to be the majority of the ones that had jab came down with the flu soon after. Same saps would stick their arm out the next year, baaaaa

I am of the opinion that this is because most of the ones getting the jab are the worriers. They're going to get sick no matter what. The other thing to remember is that the vaccine is only against influenza, not the common cold. I would have to report that I've had fewer bouts of full-blown flu since getting it.

My old lady has noticed that also. She works with a couple of ladies who always get the flu jab. They get real sick all the time, but she gets nothing.

In a “normal working environment” I wouldn’t get it done, but I work in a hostiple also and so it makes sense really. This is the second year that I have the jab and I haven’t gotten sick … but then I am not a sickly person.

We been getting them at work for free every year. I been getting mine for the last 7 years. And since I have started, I never had a flu or a cold. So happy to take them every year
I've spent my money on bikes, booze and babes. The rest I've wasted....

Looks like peeps are getting the flu and the cold mixed up as usual.

True the sickly are more likely to get he jab, partly because it is probably free for them, but also because they recognised if anyone is going to catch the flu it will be them. When they of course get a cold everyone assumes the flu jab didn't work They caught a cold, a different animal but most call it the flu because it sounds more dramatic.

Those that don't get the jab are somewhat living off the protection of those that do. Because a number do get the jab there is less flu around for the others to catch. Like those that don't immunise their kids against the likes of hooping cough and polio are really relying on it not being their for their darlings to catch.

Funny how when there were the epidemics a lot more people were keen on immunisation but now they are somewhat safe they can not do it. Suppose it makes sense, no point building a defence if you aren't likely to be attacked or are strong enough to withstand the attack.
