    Update
Found the starter motor was dead.
Removed alt cover, cam chain tensioner and oil lines to remove starter motor. Strip starter motor and it had some very poor handmade brushes inside. One wasnt contacting commutator at all and stuck. Reshaped brushes and cleaned up commutator. Refit and bingo turn over ok.
Has spark from both coils but battery wont take a charge so turned over from jumper leads. Wouldnt fire. Drained bowls and some bad petrol issues so will need clean carbs and replace petrol. Maybe tomorrow after work. im hoping charging system will be ok and may only need a new battery. Seems to have good compression and have started the descunge process. Im not sure that the last owner knew what maintance was. Seat cover is total loss so if i can get it running good will need a recover to resell it.

A mate of mine in muriwai has my old one lying around in bits in his shed somewhere, I think, at least he did last time I was up there. I will e-mail him and find out for you.

That's not a Suzuki part number, probably the manufacturer part number.

Had a check in the shed and I don't have a spare reg/rec sorry mate.

Regulator/ rectifier is a well known Suzuki problem of this era - Suzuki must have employed some ex Lucas engineers...
There are aftermarket alternatives overseas -eg - http://www.regulatorrectifier.com/catalog/Suzuki-40 - about $US80. or http://www.electrexworld.co.uk/

I recall an artilce "back in the day" which used CX500 regs to fix them. Of course, they are somewhat harder to find now as well, and I don't think it was a plg and play swap.

Im trying to sell the bike for profit spokes. That may not be a great selling point.
