Idiot asks about a Hornet battery

How do I get to the battery on 08 CB919 Hornet? Do I need to take seat and tank off or is there a side compartment somewhere?

Want to install battery optimiser for winter

Nope, not obvious anyway, unless I am blind

Then again, I only had a quick man look...

I thought it might be further up under the tank somewhere.

As trashie said, right side cover, slides backward. Patience is mostly used putting the terminals back on and sliding it in.

can i easily get to the terminals without removing the battery? Just need to attach positive and negative wire then run it back to under the seat

No, one end of the battery is at the opposite end of the sleeve, so you have to pull it all the way out, attach the leads then slide it back in.
