"...New Zealanders, for all their faults, have virtues that are precious: an unwillingness to be intimidated by the new, the formidable, or class systems; trust in situations where there would otherwise be none; compassion for the underdog; a sense of responsibility for people in difficulty; not undertaking to do something without seeing it through - "

Fascinating championship developing. Checa's making a lot of unforced errors, Biaggi's accumulating points, Melandri's really hitting his straps on the Beemer and Rea's achieving wonders on the aging Blade... shame Sykes doesn't seem to be able to translate the Kwaka's pace into a race long performance. You're still looking at a bunch of elderly ex MotoGP guys kicking arse which probably measures the up and coming young guns pretty accurately.
Melandri's Beemer was unbelievably quick, especially off the line. Maybe they just nailed the fueling at the high altitude track but it put Biaggi's bike to shame!
Did anyone else see Linda Blair during the track cleanup? She got more TV time than most of the riders at the back of the field put together![]()

Last time I saw Linda she was EA to the head of a Government Department so it would be fair to assume an address in the greater Wellington area.
She was secretary of the Ducati Owners Club NZ until a couple of years ago, and a very good one I thought.
Linda could have a large photo album, "Me and Nori, me and Troy" etc etc.
I was impressed that the commentators knew her by name though.
