    Broken bolt - Help

Hi guys. I have a bit of a problem I am hoping some kind soul can help me with. I thought I had lost a bolt out of my Ventura Pack Rack, but it turns out the poxy thing has snapped off. Half of it is somewhere on the road between New Plymouth and Warkworth and the rest of it is still very firmly screwed into the hole it belongs in.

Does anyone have one of those magic gadgets that you can use to remove the remaining bit of bolt, that I could beg, borrow or steal please?

"Easi-outs" I think they used to be called way back in the olden days when I as a lad (last century y'know - when times were reeeeeeallllllly tough an' we hadta...rabbitrabbitrantravesnortadnauseam...)

I might still have some if you can't get them from anyone else Mom. I'll have a rat around in the unplumbed depths of the toolbox tonight.

True. But it's never too early to get the "now in MYYYYYYYY day" reminiscences going, eh.

I might be heading for the Naki this weekend. Will see if I can find the other half for you. Do you know where you lost it?

Would think taking off that fairing then getting the bolt out with vice grips would be easier.

My job is to put things in, not pull things out.

There is nothing protruding on the inside under the back tail piece, that was the first thing I looked at.

Just find a man, get him to drill it out as big as possible, hammer an old allen key into it, and undo it.

Once you start drilling it will heat up and probably start turning.

Best bet is to go down to bunnings and buy a left hand drill bit in a size a little smaller than the bolt.

No standard one will do, just turn it upside down.

Silly. They have ones now where you can reverse the battery polarity...
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
