    What's a good light helmet?

I'm in need of a new helmet, and I remember my last one (the cheapest FFM had to offer) being really heavy, and also bulky.
I've had a poke round a shop or two and the interwebs, and feel like ~1.4kg is about the norm for a decent helmet?

I want to make a bit of an investment in head/neck protection/comfort without it costing silly money, any recommendations?

If you are sliding down the road and your helmet hits the road, a plastic one will instantly heat and bind to the road momentarily, twisting your head. A fi-glass one will tend to not do that

Fi-glass ones tend to be the high end ones, at least historically, and are generally regarded as being safer. They also tend to be dearer.

    Just my experience.

    Ya got a $10 head, buy a $10 helmet.

    Edit : I gotta $2 helmet.

Holy crap. Seems like a pretty good helmet. What drug is it made of?

Those Cabergs look good for the price. Might see if I can find one to fit my noggin.
You only need two tools in life:
Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't.
WD-40 if it doesn't move and it should.

My missus has one and it feels really light, but its too small for me to jam my head into. I finally got around to trying one on in the shop the other day, makes my Arai RX7 feel like a sack of potatoes.

Instead of listening to what helmet other people tell you to buy, buy the helmet that fits YOUR head properly. A cheap, good fitting helmet is far safer in a crash than a $1000 helmet that doesn't stay on your head properly. Go to a few bike shops, and try on a few helmets.

Just looked at these. They look so sweet, but ~$700 sweet?
Anyway That's just a little bit outside my budget for now anyway. I'll remember that when I graduate and get a real job though.

What about a Shark S500 Air? I thought it was pretty coo, probably have Caberg instead though.

And how is the 1tonne gear so cheap? How much do the helmets weigh?
