Weight isn't everything, my old Shark was meant to be lighter than my Shoei but the Shoei fits me better and is better balanced at speed so even though its a little heavier is feels much lighter when riding. Try any well made helmet and go for the best fit over anything else, lots of good helmets out there and some good deals but it won't mean shit when you're sliding down the road if its not the correct fit.

Scorpion EXO1000
The best Anti-fog ever (seriously you can't make it fog!).
The best fitting helmet for anyone, they have air pumps which make the helmet fit your head even 6 months later when the padding has worn down (Plus you can buy one at half the price in USA and ship it over without worrying it will be the wrong size). US$175 Delivered!
Very silent, I have no fairing to protect me from the wind and at 100km/h I can hear myself whisper (cos I'm a weirdo who whispers to himself when riding).
It has a flip down sun visor which isn't the darkest tint but you can buy darker tint ones for $15.
It is a bit heavier but the helmet is very aerodynamic with venting going through the helmet. I think it being heavier makes it better for beating the wind. And what does a few grams matter, your neck isn't weak is it? haha
Depending on your point of view about survival in a high impact accident, the other difference between Thermoplastic and Fibreglass in the ability to withstand multiple impacts. I dont mean a fibreglass lid can be reused.. but in the event of the head connecting to say the pavement edge, a wall, and something else all in the same accident,, Thermo plastic is more likely to come apart (the shell) whereas fibreglass 'holes' at the point of impact but the rest of the shells integritiy is 'maintained'. The sacrifice is as Rastus points out, a higher weight on you, which in itself can bring about issues ,,,, its a 'balancing act' but I can assure you the modern helmet is SUBSTANTIALLY lighter than the ones of 20-30 yrs ago.

I've got a Shoei XR1000 and I love it.
Weighs 1100g, very light and well balanced. Good peripheral view, and also there's plenty of viewing angle towards the top for when you're tucked in with your chin on the tank.
Very well ventilated, never gets hot and sweaty in summer. It is loud as fuck but I guess that's the flipside of the good ventilation. Really comfy, can wear it all day long and never get a tired neck/shoulders or any pinched feeling around the head. Really good lid. Also Shoei still has the easiest visor release system that I've come across. Plus I think it's one of the best styled helmets around, just has a really cool shape and design.
They don't make 'em anymore but that means you can get them cheap online as stores are running them out, just means you can't get all sizes and colours. They used to retail for about $800-900 I think, now they are going for half that.
