Another hello (are you sick of them yet?) - SPQR

Yes yes, it's another new one! Not exactly stop the presses material is it?

Ah well, shouldn't be the cause of any grievous bodily harm, so it couldn't be that bad. Unless it is, in which case, that's a little unfortunate and I apologise profusely.

I'm one of the "young ones". You know, one of those louts the elderly are always complaining about. Not that I'd dare call you fellows elderly, that title is affectionately reserved for the parental units.

As a female who is dreadfully starved of anyone to ramble about the joys of two wheels to (other than my friend Catherine, but her two wheels doesn't come with a motor so she's banished to the pile of the unenlightened) I have been rather lucky to stumble my way across a bunch of others of the enlightened.

I'm a dirt biker, I haven't ventured in to the realms of the road yet. Where are the giant slippery hills with roots in the middle of them and bogs with about twenty bikes churning through like they're swimming in treacle?! I'm "officially" on the Suzuki DRZ125L, but really I've banished my father to that and adopted the KLX300 as my own. The poor bloke is stuck in fifth gear everywhere except the hills as the suspension screams at him to shrink down so it's not in agony. If only... Would reduce his agony as well really...

The object of my great lust is the Husky TXC310. Now in my unemployed state, I just have to stumble across my long lost inheritance and miraculously have 13 grand and maybe some longer legs... Cursed genetics! I'll just have to cheat you with some lowering links and a shaved seat now won't I? Until then I'm stuck with my poor pudgy friend the KLX. She's lovely and all, but I'd like to upgrade to a slimmer, more attractive model thank you very much!

And to any of you out there at the Jolly Roosta last month, the girl being pulled out on the back of the ute in a neck brace was my girlfriend. All she got for her trouble was a bruised thumb, the knowledge they cut down a tree to pull her out and a mopey Summer (yes, that's me... And I'm not a blonde haired hippy with long skirts flowing skirts and daisy chain bracelets despite was has been assumed in the past) mourning the loss of a couple of hundred bucks of armour to the ambo officer's scissors. But she's alive and non-broken so I think I can be consolled!

Anyway, I believe I have now rambled enough! Glad to have found you all, and yes KB admin, I think I will "enjoy my stay".
I love the hills, I love the corners, sometimes I even love the bogs. I will never love having to finish a ride without a front brake or a clutch lever.

That's one heck of an intro, I think I'm almost finished reading it...... wait, nope.

Welcome to KB, take everything you hear with a pinch of salt and don't be afraid to let your opinions out.

    Yeah...

I would say I'm a world champion rambler, but the sad fact is that I know of many far far more accomplished than me... I'm just a semi-pro rambler.

Crazy? Oh no, just ever so slightly off our rockers. Either that or full blown madtown residents. Not sure which...

Wrapped around your little finger I have a KLX300 D-Tracker on the road it looks cool as with a graphics kit.

Haydes55 -- That is one nice D-Tracker you've got there. I've always liked XGX. I'm stuck with wonderful old peeling stickers from the factory... Hmmm...

Buy some new stickers and it will look better than new! It's like a paint job, but cheaper (around $300 for a full kit). If the plastics are bent or broken you can buy a new set of plastics or individual pieces pretty cheap. So don't change bike because it's ugly, spruce it up for $500 and it will go up in value even more! As long as it handles and goes fine stick with it. You can upgrade when you're full throttle all the time!

Haha, I am fully function before form and she runs lovely so she shouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon! Unless she breaks again... Oil/water gear... Wasn't good... Runs great now though!

It's just always interesting to see what people have done to their bikes. Great when it's done well. When it's not... Well... Yeah... You know...

As long as it ends up covered in mud at the end of the day it looks fine

Does it count it you're not covered in mud?! Haha. I have a very interesting photo of me after the wonderful DRZ hit a false neutral on a down hill and then proceeded to not go anywhere and tip over in the bog at the bottom of said hill... Everyone behind thought it was hilarious. Me, not so much!

The photo is impressive though. That clay could have made for pretty good fake tan if you're into the whole orange look...

Well post the photo then. My mate was at the top of a huge drop off at Pateatonga (I think that was the track) went to change from 3rd to 2nd to lift the front and accidentally found neutral, the front wheel went straight down and he went over the handlebars. Broken wrist and bruises. Getting muddy isn't too bad

Haha, I do plan to! As well as the one where I'm looking thoroughly pissed at having to wear armour that is definitely too big for a 5'2 girl. And i'm being optimistic with that measurement!

The worst I've done is broken my arm right in the middle of the bone, but only one of the bones. My poor doctor was quite confused until I told him I was on a dirt bike at which point he sighed and seemed to give up on thinking I had any sense...

Didn't stop me riding either. Rode around the front yard in suburban North Shore with a cast on my left arm. Only had to adjust the clutch lever in.
