Metal Gear Rotors (vs EBC?)

Does anyone have experience with Metal Gear rotors? I need a new set of front rotors for my Aprilia RS250 and I'm not keen on Aprilia parts being that the (supposedly) new ones put on my bike by the dealer developed warping after a few months.

So currently I'm looking at either Metal Gear or EBC. The Metal Gear ones will be a couple of hunderd dollars cheaper, EBC is more well known. I have a feeling that EBC will be better quality but I don't have any real information to say one way or the other. I'm not fussed on spending the couple of hundred more if there's a real difference in quality.

Or should I try my luck with Aprilia parts again?

They are your brakes. Don't go cheap. I was looking at brands like metalgear until a mate of mine (with extensive brake experience) slapped me enough to realise brakes are not an item you want to skimp on. Sure the MG's might be fine, but now I know my Brembo's are.

So is Metal Gear inferiour? I would have thought that the Aprilia rotors are made by Brembo (to Aprilia spec?). So won't I be buying the same part whether I buy from Brembo or Aprilia? Do you include EBC in the general category of "not that good"?

Got a Metal Gear on the back of the Hornet... it was what the shop recommended.

Are they inferior? I don't know, they might not be, but I didn't want to find out. Even if I am paying more for the brand name at least it is still piece of mind for me. That alone was worth the extra money. MG might be perfectly fine, I have no personal experience with them. But companies like EBC (to answer your other question) and Brembo are recognised players in the braking field. And to me brakes are the most important part of a motorcycle.

Last EBC rotors I bought, (about 3mths ago for kannys KLE500), said "Product of China"on the box, but the billing was via wemoto in the UK.
Just saying.

PS wemoto is a bloody good company to deal with.

I was told by a brake specialist that a large number of the Japanese manufacturers source their rotors in China anyway, so aftermarket ones are often made in the same factory, just not put in a branded box.

I'll probably go for Metalgear when I replace the front rotors on my NC30, but I'm buggered if I'll pay what they sell for here. I will be buying out of Aus online, and shipping through a friend over there.

Exactly the same as me mate.

I was quoted $900 on bits4bikes (the NZ metalgear suppliers) for my RGV, I told them that was bullshit as they were around $600 from metalgear.com.au excluding shipping (my dad lives there so was gonna go through him) . Long story short, after a few emails back and forth bits4bikes came to the party and quoted me $670 for the set delivered. Ill take that.

But yeah, nearly $300 mark up for being a middleman-fatcat? I dont think so.
