Bridgestone VMCC Winter Series
New Zealand's leading Winter Road Race Series has a new naming rights sponsor!
With previous long term sponsor Actrix deciding not to continue for 2012, the time was right for Bridgestone tyres to join with the VMCC Winter Series and continue Bridgestone's long standing commitment to motorcycle road racing.
Bridgestone's involvement in serious motorcycle racing began in the early 1980's with supporting the all Japan championship.
By 2002 Bridgestone had joined Moto GP and 5 years later had their first world champion in the premier class and the following year gained their second title with Valentino Rossi and his Bridgestone shod Fiat Yamaha. Since 2009 Bridgestone have been the exclusive tyre supplier to the FIM MotoGP World championship and their development of high performance race tyres continues to provide the highest quality product for not only MOTOGP riders but for all discerning motorcycle racers who choose to use Bridgestone race rubber.
Brand Manager for Bridgestone Motorcycle Tyres in NZ is well known racer Jay Lawrence who is back racing this year in the Bridgestone Winter Series on a Yamaha R1 Superbike.
If you would like to search Jay out in the pits during the series and talk to him about the best race tyres for your bike he will be pleased to discuss options with you.
Bridgestone will also be providing a special prize per round to a lucky series participant who is using Bridgestone tyres and running at least 2 Bridgestone stickers on their bike. To be in to win, get a set of Bridgestone tyres on your bike, put your stickers on (if your dealer doesn't have any make sure you see Jay for some) and advise at sign on that you are running Bridgestone tyres.
From there the rounds winning rider will be selected and prize presented at riders briefing at the following round.
