Shit are those things dry sumped ? I thought it was the honda V4.
Asbestos knickers for the pilot may be needed....
Bloody V twins fill the frames don't they, space gets hard to find. Wedge shaped tank in front of the sump ?

What about using the swingarm like a Buell ?

A few Honda bits in the clutch and gearbox some Porsche stuff in the head not including the suspension bits and bobs, the rest all EMU engineering
Hes made old style BSA v twins as well as a Norton Rotary racer.

ps tut tut on unsprung with a swingarm reservoir Greg. Although it sure does look inviting.

First up, 50% or so of swingarm weight is sprung weight.

Second - that BSA? looks a hell of a lot like it's based on Yamaha TR1 cases to me....Sold my TR1 motor recently, sadly.

Thirdly, Scott, you need to publish a reference list of just what you've built and where it's at, it's very confusing for the rest of us....

well yes half but its the whole lot of added oil weight.
Its all built by emu def no TRI cases the finning is based on Gold star dimensions and the the v angle is so the pistons don't collide.
be designed it as a bike that BSA could have made if they were still in business same with the older bsa based v twins, he did these as the bikes they should have made
I will post the article on all them if you want. In a few days pretty sure it was in CB.

Ask scott if the worry about the weight of what ? 2 litres ? of oil in the arm outweighs the worry of making a secure and oiltight seat....
If I couldn't find space in the frame - or even use the frame like a Rickman - I reckon the arm is a pretty good option.

Don't bother about the article for me, not interested thanks.

Oil or fuel in the frame would be nice, flow mite be a problem. Would be interesting to work out what the capacity would be. Front of swing arm would work well for 800ml of oil tho.

I've got this thing about oil draining down into the sump when not in use...But i've had several Nortons, lol...

If you look at where the sump pickup usually is in a wet sump motor, using the arm as a reservoir puts the oil level well above the pump pickup.
And as it's lower, and central, the bike's attitude changes affect the level less.

Is the Prilla a roller or plain bearing motor ? Roller is way less sensitive to interrupted oil supply as it can live on oil mist.
Plain bearing of course it can be catastrophic.

Shortly after the Triumph 1050 Sprints came out i was asked to look at four damaged motors for an opinion.
The pickups in the early ones were in the wrong place IMO and as soon as they were wheelied, instant bearing failure...

Mate, think about my high performance buell/Harley... Lol. If it's good enough for Erick buell.... but then again he has some weird ideas. But in saying that the rotax twins use the same system. Would keep it very tidy.

I simply googled aprilia sxv550 and found the section in the aprilia forum. There's a very good thread on how the oiling system works. i can't post a link but I'm sure husa could...
I can see why they have sealant problems...112 - 122 psi oil pressure above 5000 rpm....holy shit !!
But the rods being fed via a seal in the alternator cover and the rear head via the clutch cover, both make me wince.
Otherwise it's a straightforward dry sump system - and i'd have a bigger tank than 800ml....

Edit After reading the last link Husa posted, i think I'd put a couple of man sized breathers on the thing too...Not as if you have to worry about emissions.
