Still ticking away at the barrel.

Three more update shots. Showing firstly the six undercuts for the fins, they may get welded in later this week.

Another photo shows all I could achieve looking down the exhaust port, any more set ups would have to be compound angles (tipped in two different directions at once), and I think between that and the impossible datums required, this may be pushing my skills too far.

So the third photo shows the ports on the inside (minus sleeve at this point), left has blue vivid on it to show where I am heading with this after hand porting it, the right one shows just how much more material needs to be removed. Patience is a virtue!!!

A false sleeve will be dropped in to help guide the transition, left as a sliding fit, but able to be engaged on the notch in the "top hat" for positioning. The final port positions will be machined into this false sleeve, and it should help immeasurably in getting us 99% home.

    So it continues...

We all need to wish very hard!

I think in time it will become viable, but the noise factor is going to have to be overcome, and I think we will need to find an easy muffler solution, even at the cost of a horse or two. If everyone suffers the same, the racing will still be great, and it is a great track to ride, very technical, but good width to work with.

    Keeping my fingers crossed.

    Nice work Kerry.

Right so the new MNZ rules are out. Be sure to read them and check off the changes.

    http://www.mnz.co.nz/docs/default-so...d.pdf?sfvrsn=2

Outside of the code of conduct changes, only thing that seems to have points structure and the deletion of rule 24.2.1

    24.2.1 was
Fuel: See 10.17.1. Alcohol based fuel or fuel additives are prohibited.

    Linked to 10.17.1
The following classes shall be restricted to petrol having maximum characteristics not exceeding “Avgas or Unleaded FIM” as defined in Appendix E. Motocross, Stadium/Supercross, Miniature TT, Trials, Enduro, Cross Country, ATV, Stockbike, Solo, All Road Race classes except those classes listed in 10.17.2 and 10.17.3. All Mini and Junior classes.

    Linked to appendix Ehttp://www.mnz.co.nz/docs/default-so...s.pdf?sfvrsn=2

Now with the rules 24.2.1 being removed, what controls fuel inside chapter24...
    E85???

    More holes than the bible...

If you can do a header pipe combination for FXRs at a reasonable price that works OK we could almost make them mandatory.
    Stock is best

Certainly will give this our best shot, knowing how many times noise is brought up at all the tracks we go to, it is worth finding a "fix all" for this problem. Will keep you posted, it is happening as we speak.

I was against the change. Simple is better and the seem to have done is complicate it for average joe.

Based on my reading of the Fuel Specs, we are required to comply with 10.17.2. And Appendix E states that for unleaded petrol it must not contain more than 10% Ethanol, therefore (as I understand it) E85 is still prohibited.

    24.2.1 was certainly clearer

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round

Like yourself, I'm stuck with dealing with this sort of rubbish everyday.

But Chapter24 was almost inclusive and covered everything one needed to really know (outside of C-o-C and racing stuff). But now man it's been degraded into the same level of bull as the rest of MOMS. Maybe a few of us need to re write chapter24 and hand it back to MNZ for next year...

But way I read it 10.17.2 doesn't apply as we are separated under the racing classes and not defined in the clause.... But I'll read it again...

Fighting with roading scum to update our contract doc templates to the new 3910 standards at the moment. Should have been done months ago. Over it.

All Road Race classes except those classes listed in 10.17.2 and 10.17.3.
That it is that single sentence why I believe we are covered.

Are we keeping up with cross posting in the two threads...

Yes, valid but we are classified as miniature road racing.... The 'miniature' is enough to warrant reference....

We made some good headway pre GP this year, knocking both Scotty's and mine back quite a lot, compared to the rest of the pack.
But I was shocked at how loud mine was at manfield two weeks ago vs big bikes and then at the kart track I was really blown away compared to the test Karts...
    Bloody four strokes...

Might have to have a lie down shortly.

I see your point. Back to my original statement. I was in favour of 24.2.1.
