    Cyanogenmod

Anyone here done it to their phone? I just did it to my LG P500 with Ice Cream Sandwich and it seems to be a fair bit quicker without all that extra bloatware that phones tend to come with these days.

    yes..

but make sure you have backed up the original OS..

Some of the releases are a bit dodgy, so if you find a good one do a backup of that and keep it safe in case you need to restore to it.

I've used it on my htc desire like, forever. But now I have a One V, with ICS so no need really.

Keep an eye on your battery life just in case you're one of the unlucky few that have that errant process that you can never find that runs drains the battery like a govt raping an educational institute . Ran mine down completely, wifi on, blue tooth on, gps on, highest brightness, angry birds space etc... and charged it over night. Battery life is all good again.
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

Has anyone here overclocked their phone? I noticed that I can change the clock frequencies now.

I've never tried OC'ing but I have underclocked. I did notice a boost in battery life although I can get 1.5-2 days out of my S2 running CM9 anyway so don't really worry about underclocking. Don't really need to OC with the S2's processor anyway

Changing clock frequencies can be good for a number of reasons.

Have a read and see if it could be of benefit:
    How to Overclock your Android

Of course the first thing you need to consider is whether or not you are happy to brick your phone just for a little more battery or performance. Though it's unlikely you'll end up with a paperweight, it could happen so consider the risks. Then get clocking!
You only need two tools in life:
Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't.
WD-40 if it doesn't move and it should.

Failure comes from too little brute force, or
    too little ignorance.

Yea man, I've got 2.3.7 on my old LG GT540 and it runs sweet. Looots of battery life, about 4-5 days usually with just txts and the occasional wifi. OC is good too for Angry Birds Space, just don't clock too far and always keep an eye on temperature ...
Mine runs at 600, the furtherest I've gone is about 740ish and was stable, no worries ...

Some of the phones are coming out with a modified version of Cyan as it's stock form.

My Huawei X1 had pretty much a Cyan, but with some telecom b/s that I removed once I root the phone.

Just got a Alcatel OT-918D, and fairly similar to the X1. Took a lot more to root though, but I find the phone runs way better without all the bullshit google stuff I dont need.
