Never. Dead OR alive
Only when I'm dead
When I'm alive, but only to a needy friend or family member
When I'm alive, to anybody I thought worthy
I'd only do it for money...

I'm a donor on my license (hope that doesn't mean the medics go "oh we'll let this one go... we need her heart"), but sure once I'm dead I ain't gonna be using them... as for being alive... it would have to be for a very close friend/family/partner....

DON'T RIDE LIKE YA STOLE IT, RIDE TO SURVIVE.
FIRST TIME I WENT TO HOSPITAL THE DOCTOR SAID I WAS A MOD , MOBILE ORGAN DONOR. MY PARTNER HAS INSTRUCTIONS TO LET THEM HAVE THE LOT WHEN IM DEAD , YOU SHOULD TELL YOUR PARTNER CAUSE I HEARD THAT NO MATTER WHATS ON YOUR LICENCE THEY ASK YOUR FAMILYS PERMISSION FIRST.
I THINK WE SHOULD HAVE A POLICY OF , IF YOUR NOT WILLING TO GIVE ORGANS YOU SHOULD NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO ACCEPT , MAYBE WED GET MORE DONORS
yes I would want to keep my brian aswell......Originally Posted by RiderInBlack

I only posted this because of the global economic crisis
There needs to be a better system for notifying willing intent to donate organs than one's drivers licence. Who is going to look at that in A&E? Also, have you advised your next of kin/family of your intent? If they don't approve, in the absence of written instruction on your part, then their wishes take precedence. Maybe having "donor" tatooed on one's forehead is more instructional, or maybe a "donor" medic alert tag?

Wouldn't have it on my licence if I didn't mean it. And it's my wishes that count, not my rellies. The ability to veto on their part should be removed.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

It's true licence's are usually last resort and nearly never actioned.Originally Posted by WINJA

They can have whatever they like when I'm dead. After what my body has been through, I don't think there'll be any good parts left.
I hope they're aware of this too!??? Where's your caring, putting others first, altruistic dedication, boy?Originally Posted by crazylittleshit

Once I'm dead they can have anything thats of use, although most of it is pretty worn out. ( bits of it I/we still get a lot of enjoyment out of). Been giving blood for the last 30 odd years so organs don't seem too different
Old age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill
I like Winja's comment - only those that are prepared to share should be able to recieve. And maybe it should be one of those unwritten biker laws, that you must be a doner. They call us organ donors anyway, lets get the rep for the right reasons for once!
And crazylittleshit - its good that your loved one comes first - otherwise they may not get to at all . . .
I'm definitely a donor - and pretty much everyone who knows me knows that I wish for my organs to be harvested at my (sad) demise.
I think a registry would be a good thing (kinda like Medic Alert), as I'd hate to have MY wishes overturned because a family member wishes for my ENTIRE body to go up in flames/rot in the ground. Y'know - cos it's not like I'm gonna NOTICE my cornea's gone.
I wonder how much you'd get for bits and pieces on trademe...
