Angry It's crawling in the walls

There's an insect crawing in my walls or ceiling making a loud chirping sound every morning. I've atached a sound file of it and I'm hoping someone can tell me what it is and how I kill it.

Sounds like some funny bugger has slipped a smoke detector in there and now the battery is on the way out

Almost sounds like a drop of water falling on something resonant. Can't help, sorry.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Can't help but agree with this lol
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

It is a smoke detector. Just moved into a new house and didn't even know I had one.

Aye, fire alarm... or if there's "scratching" it'll be a bat. We had a similar sound coming from under the seamans chest in the living room once and about 10 minutes later a bat crawled out from underneath the thing.

    I see it's a fire alarm...
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

Thats what it is alright...was a party a few years ago, there quite a few of us looking for this fucking chirping noise.
Later the next morning, we tracked it down to .......the pantry! yes someone had stuck a smoke detector in the pantry.
    Same noise.

Sadly, the fuckers always start doing it in the wee hours. Electrickery 101 - battery voltages drop when cold. The house gets cold at night...

Don't buy cheap warehouse batteries for replacement, they don't last.
