Haven't talked to the dealership but I've looked around on cycletreads etc and a pair of sport demons works out to about 260 non-fitted, but my Dads trying to make a buck out of me as I have $420 as he gave me some money for my last bike, and I have $420 left to spend on the bike after I was hit by a cager who was at fault.

Which is why I'm asking if anyone has anyn good experience with them here, to decide whether I should just buy these, or go the extra mile and buy some brand new sport demons.

200 plus the 50 freight is 250. thats only 70-100 off a new set of not old rubber. Your call.

All commentary subject to the age question....ie too old I'd keep away from.

I'd buy them at the right price. At one point the Metz laser front tyre (prev ME33) was the default tyre that everything was compared against. It was well known as a very good front tyre in most conditions and very stable. I've raced and ridden on the road with the Comp K version.

Over the years the laser front was pushed down the queue a little with newer models eg, the Rennsport, and Racetec and others and are now I think mostly made in Brazil. Notwithstanding this, I believe they still stack up as a good road tye.

The rear I've used on the road as an ME55 designation when I had an RZ500 (onmatched with an ME33 laser comp K front) and never had an issue with it and wore well (well, for the 5000 km I did on it!).

IIRC, these tyres (or earlier generations) were standard fittment on the teapot GSX750 and a number of other models.

How they stack up against say sportdemon, probably similar.

Years ago as a spotty boy when I was buying a second hand RD350LC from Bob Haldane and getting new tyres fitted as part of the deal, I asked about fitting a ME33 laser front (and paying the extra) rather than the lower spec Rille 11 or something I was getting. Bob pointed out if I was going to fall off with what I was getting, I was going to fall off with the better one too.....
