It's worth noting that Snap's unlimited youtube does actually cost more now - those of us who had it when it was $2 per month still have it grandfathered in at that rate, but if you sign up for it now it's $5 per month.
I'd definitely recommend them, they've got far and away the best customer service of any of the ISPs I've ever dealt with, and since they bumped the data caps right the hell up a few months back, the price/cap ratio is excellent by NZ standards - you get a base 5GB with your plan, and then an additional 20GB for $10, 60GB for $15, 145GB for $25, 250GB for $40, or 550GB for $70. Additionally you can pay $5 and get uncapped downloading between 1am and 7am for 3 nights, which for me generally amounts to about 110-130GB for $5.
They also offer VDSL2 for an extra $50 per month, but at the moment you can get it for an extra $25 per month with the cost of the modem more than halved if you sign up for a 24 month contract.

Depends where Snap has POP (Point of Presence) as to your realistic speeds.

On Telecom, was 60GB and edging towards the wrong end, now got the double to 120GB and it should suffice... All the heavy downloading of files/updates/patches etc is done at work on no cap, no extra dollars.

Same for me too... Once in a long while, Telecom makes me happy enough with them to make me stop calling them Telescum...

But we were still getting very close to maxing it out. Now they called me again and told me that they are doubling my Broadband for free. So now we have 120GB for the cost of 30GB at $95/month (that also includes my phone).

So I was wondering what peeps on here have for plan?

You also live in a country with 313 million people. With that many people I'd expect better infrastructure and way faster than 12mb/s down

    They are desperate for customers...

If they were the last communication providers in NZ we would start using courier pidgeons and smoke signals instead.

Fucking semaphore would be faster and more reliable.

For those wondering why the ISPs are all increasing their data caps at the same price point, it's because Southern Cross Cable cut their pricing by up to 44% back in January. For years they've had no meaningful competition so they've been able to charge whatever they please, but some serious competition is on the way, and they seem to be hoping to shed a little of the ill-will generated by their price gouging well before the rival networks are up and running, in an effort to retain as many customers as possible.

Well, I suspect partially it was a case of all the ISPs watching each other - once one of them had done it, the rest kind of had to follow suit, but they were probably all hoping it either wouldn't happen or it'd take as long as possible.
Having said that, they did say the price would only be lowered on new contracts, so it may have been a case of waiting till contract renegotiation time before the price was dropped, or a period of negotiation to convince Southern Cross Cable to drop their prices for existing contracts.
It does kind of seem like Telecom missed a great opportunity to build some goodwill though - given that they're the majority shareholder in Southern Cross Cable, they presumably could have dropped their prices immediately rather than waiting to react to the other ISPs once they'd negotiated lower pricing.

Telescum will never miss an opportunity to milk the customers dry for as long as possible unless they are confronted, like in my case, by customers wanting to switch over to somewhere else. If only Telescum were a dairy company, they'd make even more money than Fonterra!

It was one of their overpaid (now happily retired) CEOs who said "Confusion is a marketing tactic..." when questoned about their overcomplicated and expensive plans. And she retired with a reward of a nice big fat bonus to thank her for milking the customers to their last drop of blood!

Been with TelstraClear for years and no reason to change. 40gig and rarely threaten that even working from home and on the computer all day plus son downloads movies, games and music. Got lots of other features but monthly bill around $140.00.

Vodafone for mobile with 3gig data but even though using it every day only manage to use about 350meg in a month!

So just upgraded from 120G to 500G

And the price is almost the same.

My boys used the 120G over the holidays in 17 days, so was time to make sure there is some for me also...

Oh, and it is Telecom: $119/month for the 500Gig.

May the bridges I burn light the way.
