    Suzuki TS 50

Rare 50cc 2 stroke motorcycle with 5 speed gearbox but registered as a moped *Cheap*. I've ridden and owned 50cc scooters (UZ50, AZ50 etc) and can say this is definitely faster.

Being only 50cc it tops out around 70km/h on flat roads, and around 80km/h on slight down hill. But going up large steep hills will be a mission.

I can confirm other bikers will still give you biker waves and kids in Manurewa will still show you their gang signs, something you won't get on a scooter.

Was using it as my daily commute, but selling now as I impulsively bought another cheap bike a few days ago... as you do...

How did you manage to get it registered as a moped? They have far too much power and are certainly capable of exceeding 50 kmh.

It's always been registered as a moped, but I understand the previous owner changed the gearing and de-restricted the engine to get the extra speed out of it.

You understand wrong! Have a read here - http://www.suzukicycles.org/TS-TC-series/TS50.shtml - and you will see that the TS50 has always had more than 2kw and the ability to exceed 50kph.
The problem for a rider/owner, if stopped by a cop who knows, is they could be pinged for all the short-paid back-rego...
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Maybe one should ride responsibly, adhere to the road rules and stay within the prescribed speed limit. In that case maybe one could reduce the chances of getting pulled over. Outrageous and rash suggestion i know...but it might just work! Never had a problem riding it daily myself.
