Kawasaki ZXR250 exhaust and carb rebuild - where to buy

New to the forums, hello everyone, my names Ben i'm from christchurch.
Recently bought a 1991 Kawasaki ZXR250 and i'm looking to upgrade the carb and exhaust as both are getting a bit tired, and the carb needs a rebuild anyway.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I go about this, or any recomendations on products to use and where to purchase?
I've had absolutely no luck finding a stock carb rebuild kit.

Am looking to get a bit more power out the bike so not nescacarily looking for stock parts.

Any infomation would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

    A/B/C/D model?
You're not likely to get any more power than a factory set up one...
    If you want to try...

If it's A model, try get some B model cams (These are the factory SP ones)
C model, get D model cams. But, I've only seen a handful of them on eBay and cannot vouch for actual power gains.

With the carbs, it should be running 4X Keihin CVK-D30 or D32, either of them are common as f@ck. For example, the ZZR/ZXR/ZRX400 use D32s, and about a million other bikes.
If it's running flatslide carbs, you might have an SP model, but the majority of the SP models (B and D) were sold with single seat units and are impossible to find.

    My recommendation for more "power"

Do the cam chain and tensioner, stretched chains throw the valve timing out
    Do the valve clearances
Get a slip on exhaust so you can pretend you have more power
    Re-jet to suit

Or do the sensible thing, make it as tidy as you can and get some rider training.

    Thanks for the infomation.
    It's a "C" model.

I didn't realise the carb was common, but now I know that it should be easy enough to find a carb rebuild kit. Not sure exactly whats worn but I know the gaskets have some cracking as I had to fix them up with gasket glue.

I heard the use of a derestricted CDI timing unit can be of some benefit, do you know if this is true or worth the effort for gains?

I'm getting out on the track at Ruapuna in CHCH and getting some tuition.

De-restricted was U.K market, as far as I know, it was also found on B/D models and hasn't got a speed cut.
I'm not too sure if the ignition curves were any different, but you can always make your own ignition advancer by slotting the holes on the ignition pick up.
If you have a speed cut, follow my DIY thread here

The carb gaskets are easy to get on them

Set the floats and sync the carbs, there are plenty of DIY out there and an owners manual will help you
