I need a new chain for 1998 GSXR600 SRAD

I just put one of those on the bike I was selling. Looks ok and is xring. I have only run 1 tank of gas with it so cant tell you about stretch etc though.
Stick that on till next time then do a 520 conversion.

The one in my link is c clip so grinder only needed to shorten the new chain to the correct links. Count your links first to see how many you need which will most likely be about 110-115.

it depends on whether the chain you buy is a rivet link, or a clip link. clip link, no - but on a 100hp bike, Id tend to steer away from the little clip links - thats just my personal preference.
there is a special tool for putting the rivet links on - didnt you get invited to the CHCH maintenance nights a while ago? - I bet my left ball bag that someone there has, or has access to the required tool.

order your parts, (Ebay usually cheaper!!!) and take to a maintenance night and ask for help. plus someone there will be able to tell you how to clutch-ups like Ducatilove..... nevermind

I'm going to buy a RK chain with Vortex steel sprockets from one of the guys on the gixxer forums for $225.

I just got a better offer for a good second hand chain and sprockets from another KB member in exchange for a 12 pack of beer. Can't complain about that.
