A female tree Weta,,,a fucking great big one that's just waiting it's chance to turn up on your pillow in the middle of the night.

Thats what it is alright...was a party a few years ago, there quite a few of us looking for this fucking chirping noise.
Later the next morning, we tracked it down to .......the pantry! yes someone had stuck a smoke detector in the pantry.
Same noise.
