Is there a number on the barrel or on/in any paperwork you got when you bought the bike.

A phone call to the local Honda dealer may be required.

    The Problem here is HISS.

I purchased it second hand, well, Third hand actually and the previous owner bought it from Christchurch, in essence I only received the bike with 1 key and no paperwork.

Called Honda, they want me to replace everything. ECU, harness, Ignition barrel, Keys etc. about 4k work. They will not give any information about it, wouldn't even consider just reprogramming the ECU wit a new set of keys, wouldn't make AS MUCH money that i suppose. There are people on ebay that will remap a new set of keys to my ECU and cut it for my ignition barrel, just not keen to send it all overseas and have to wait.

I Wish I had NA model, They dont have the HISS system on their Hondas! lose your keys? no problem! get a couple cut! none of this Chip business.

Claim on your insurance, that's why you pay it.

Insurance does not depend on having a license. Theft can occur when you are not riding it. You can lose your key when you aren't riding it.

My bikes been in storage because ive been overseas so no, its not been insured. maybe i should insure it and claim in a couple of weeks.

On a side note, does anyone know anyone Wrecking a CBR1000rr? i could grab the ECU/Keys/Locks and Ignition barrel off of that.

In storage is probably a good time to have it insured. If it was a commercial storage ... claim on their insurance. Try claiming on your own contents insurance.

Ask a few wreckers about the parts you need.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

How many Honda dealers have you talked to about this?

I am fairly sure you can reprogram the ECU to a new key code. Its a bit of a faff but cheaper than buying new parts.

Here is a link to a guy that has done this on his CBR600. Just buy a blank HISS key, cut it to your ignition and then reprogram the ECU so the new key codes are recognised by HISS.

I would think a honda dealer could do this for you or do it yourself - must be similar setup to the blade.
