Knox Six Pack Ruck Sack (backpack for us Kiwis)

Just unpacked, so here's the initial impressions.

    Delivery
Arrived promptly enough from Quasimoto, $165 inc delivery to Christchurch. More than I've paid for a backpack before, but then none of the others came with a coat hanger or storage space for a visor!

The package itself looked like an extra thick council rubbish back had mated with a roll of packing tape, no complaints there!

Brett, wouldn't hurt to slip some sales literature into the package next time too... some of us are suckers for things we can touch and feel (says the man who loves online shopping and yet still buys every motorcycle magazine available)

    First impression
Bigger than I expected for a bike pack, although that should been obvious given it's range of talents. Threads on buckles etc seems thick enough to take some abuse. Reminds me of an upmarket school bag. Pullers on zips are a nice touch, but would prefer something that can't unravel, not a big deal, I'd just use rubber moulded ones if it were me making it.

    Features
Helmet bag is a nice touch, like the (removable) visor pouch, it is lined with soft anti scratch type material, good good. They advertise it as a laptop bag... well, it comes with yet another removable pouch for actually putting the laptop in.

Buckle for the external retainer webbing is a good idea, much easier to trust than without imho.

Clips to hold the excess webbing against the straps, another nice touch.

Piping is reflective, another good choice.

Little pockets for Africa, in some handy places too (like off to the side on the kidney belt), you do get the feeling that sports bikers had a hand in making this

Feels like it was worth the money, should be a worthy successor to the 10 year old Lonely Treker back pack I've been using... pics to come!

Yep, was the visor thing that sold me on it... I was sooo close to buying an Icon Mil Spec just for that feature... but it's a bright bright orange, complete with shoulder pads that are also bright orange (US serviceman must have a dayglo vest to ride their bikes thus the 'milspec'). This is great, and a nice subtle black.

First impression is that this would be excellent for a laptop bag Cajun.

Well, yesterday was a good excuse for a ride to pick up my KNOX bag from Quasi, Daisy enjoyed the pootle and it was a sedate and pleasant ride. I figured the cost of the courier should be used as petrol money for the ride!

Turned up as they were sorting out the Katoom from the Taupo trackday, got into the usual chinwag about bikes and other related issues. Damn good to have the time of day to chat and have me turn up to pick up the bag!

Eventually we got around to the bag itself, went over the features and oohed and ahhed over it - even got some piccies taken whilst wearing it so Quasi could have it as a reference. Even gave him some feedback on the glubs I purchased from him oh so long ago.

Well, everything has been mentioned before, so I will just give my observations with riding with it on! I had some gear stashed in it to give it some weight and it is damn comfortable, just have to make sure you cinch up the chest clip tightly otherwise it will flap around and thwack on your chest (it can get irritating).

Apart from that, it's just really comfy and you never notice it's there - mind you with more weight maybe you would!

Now, time to give it a real road test soon ... a few thousand kays on the trot should do it!

Still loving it. Only had thing is the cover that goes around the main zip. Not a good design, doesn't quite work as intended... but I'm hoping it's because it's still new and the fabric stiff. I think it'll come right, I'd definitely still buy one though, it's a minor thing all told.

Still using it, still loving it. Main opening zip design is still retarded, and the clip/buckle for round me belly is quite hard to clip up. Won't work loose or anything inconvenient like that, it's just quite hard to work.

Other than that, quality is good, no stitching letting go, nothing has broken, and is quite comfy to ride with

Final update... still the shit... buckle is slowly getting the learn, as is the zip shield... the fabric is getting a memory.

You'd be hard pressed to kill it, its pretty well made (I treat mine like any other backpack, no royal treatment).

    Comfy to ride in too

    Ok, one more update...

Zip shield - still a little teeny tiny bit funny, but well worn in by now - sorted
Piece of shite buckle - broken (well, it broke, but still works, go figure)

Still haven't killed it, still wear it every day, always loaded with crap. Pressed to find a bad point, apart from the obvious waist buckle, some of the liner is of average quality (on an above average product mind).... BUT, it hasn't worn through or died, and it gets a lot of use... that is only being very picky.

9 months in, would I buy this again:
Would I buy a Knox product again:
    Buy from Quasimoto again:

Was tempted to get one of these but the price put me off. Was the $165 in the original post a typo or just one hell of a special?

Ended up with a tankbag that doubles as a backpack anyway just doesn't have the capacity or helmet carrying ability of this!

Intro special iirc... I'd pay up to $200 for this pack, it ticks all the boxes. Much more than that I'd have another look about, but I've yet to see anthing comparable, so much so that I would've produced my own if I hadn't have seen this.

/edit: Check out the Kriega range, not cheap though.

Still cannot be killed. Although the fabric that goes around the pull cord has worn enough to start getting trapped in the main zipper. This still gets dragged everywhere every single day. Top piece of kit.
