I have friends up here who have an ad hoc "undie $500" race. Big paddock, very tight course & only bikes that cost less than $500 are eligible.

That's how the Flattrack class started at Rosebank Speedway in the late '70's. It was called Stock Bikes (look in the MNZ rulebook) and there were only 3 rules - no knobs, no brakes and a 750 limit. We used to ride down, disconnect our brakes and ride on the track, then ride home again. Like in the video, everyone wanted a go and the track was packed. We did the same at our Waiheke dirttrack - but we had no rules - brakes, any tyres and any capacity. Fun, fun ,fun.

there is races in NP and Huntly that are called juggy 100's, they are 2 man 2 hour races, you have to use either XR100's, TF125 or AG100's, only the cases have to stay origanl, all other mods and reframes are ok, but again reliability is the key over 2 hours
they are 15 minute sessions, then a rider swap, before the new rider goes out they must skull a jug of beer, then put their helmet on, (which is checked to make sure its on tights, saftey first you know)
I used to race shorttrack in the uk, which it looks like the video was filmed at one of their events. (www.shorttrack.co.uk)
They ran under ACU rules on most of the speedway circuits in the uk. In the first season they only had 2 classes; pit bikes and open. Rules were brillianly simple; No front brakes, no knobblies, lanyard kill switch. Easy!
I ran a Husky 125 mx'er at the first 2 meetings til my ebay racer was ready - 100 pound GS500 commuter hack with road race wet tyres and flat mx bars! Great bike on a dry track!
I tried to run an event at Ohakea speedway a few years back but a lack of entries meant it didnt run in the end. I now realise I should have offered a chopper class! LOL!
Maybe when I get back to NZ I'll try to run another event...
Awesome to see those big ol Chopper styled machines out there in the mud and not many of em falling down either.
who's gunna get this going ere then?
I'd need another bike to enter into this sort of thing , But it'd be worth it.
Every day above ground is a good day!:
