    Ideas for a company name??

Righto- those that have been sworn to secrecy are now off the hook. Thanks guys.

I am going to start a company which will import motorcycle parts and accessories. Yes I know there is a fair bit of competition in this area- lets just say I'm not expecting it to make me rich. We'll see where it goes.

So anyway, I need a company name. As it's based purely around bikes I like the idea of having MOTO in the name. For some reason I like Motoline Imports Unfortunately there is a clothing brand available with the same name. My accountant suggested Motolyne.

    Any thoughts?

Yes I will offer discounts to KB members! And I'm thinking a good discount for licensed racers would be a good idea too.... assuming I've got something they want.

    Cheers

How about sticking an "R" in there and making it Motorline?

I've just looked up the Companies Office website, and there is an outfit called Motorline Tyres Ltd in Hastings, but nothing else.

Firstly, rethink your sales strategy. No bike shop will touch your product if you're selling it to the public also, namely, us.

Unless you're opening a retail shop. But yeah, as a wholesaler, you have to be pretty committed to the shops selling your lines.

Motorlyne - I thought it sounds like a motor oil. Why not include the name imports or importers in your title? At least it is then very obvious and fitting.

    That's Lynne, you nongs...

    - Do you want the company name to start with "A" for any particular reason? (If so, go for something really memorable with two As, like Aardvark Express)
    - Do you really need to have a reference to vehicles or parts? (If so, go for something literal that says what it means and means what it says).

I like the Aardvark idea -- a resourceful animal that can sniff/dig out whatever it seeks. It could also make a great logo...

    Cool

"Motorcycle Parts & Accessories" is what you are selling..
so call it that... "Motorcycle Parts & Accessories" and that way it will catch the attention of m/bike riders around NZ who are wanting parts etc etc.

If you go this way your company name is listed in the index of the Yellow Pages.
    Very cunning.

On the Motolyne/Motoline thing, you wouldn't want to name it something that sounds like another company name - especially considering the strandard of spilleng about thase days (Google 'Lyne/Lynne debacle' for a egzampel).

yeah, sounds more like engine oil to me.. what about something like MotoPort if you want 'moto' in it somewhere.. or go gimmicky and use something like ImiMoto

I've done the numerology for Motolyne - sorry bud, you'd better stay clear of it....a much better number comes up with ... Motulyne.
