    Thumbs up

The sooner the NZ Govt, Police and Justice system wake up to the fact that they've been used by the FBI to get stuff that they should not have had a hand in getting for them the better.
We/New Zealanders should be camped out at Dot coms place to make sure that no one else goes in there looking for stuff that never was theirs in the first place.
As New Zealanders we should be Livid that the USA sent their bully boys down here and that our own GOVT allowed them to use BULLSHIT tactics and paperwork to get what they wanted.
NZ should be totally and utterly RED FACED about this and absolutely determined to never allow any other foreign agencies to operate their way here in OUR Country ever again.
We should have gone to WAR with France over the Rainbow Warrior.
We should now cut all ties, diplomatic, military and economic with the USA until they come back with their bloody tails between their legs and publicly apologise for making a monumental Cock Up here in our place.
Whats more I hope Dot com gets everything back and then sues the pants off the US and our Govt's for everything he can get.
Smelt bad from the start this one did.
Every day above ground is a good day!:

2 wrongs don't make a right - and it will only be the NZ tax payer who loses if there is a payout, cops fired etc.

i know i said i wasn't going into this. but fuckit:

police fines/ sanctions against govt: no, because it's citizens' stolen("taxed") $$ anyway.

IMMEDIATE job losses for cops, whoever signed off the warrant and any politician that had a hand in this pie: emphatically yes. today is good.

    force some resignations.

hands up anyone who didn't have a twin-deck tape player hooked up to their turntables....?
(if yes, then GTFO of this argument immediately)

you can bet your a55 it wasn't for the benefit of playing one tape after another. (fancy that, a record button.... maybe they should have labelled it a "pirate this shit" button)
it's not a new game that's being played. if the corporates can't keep up, they should step down.

type "download illegal/pirated movies/music/games/software" into google, you'll get your stuff.
google is facilitating this shit as much as dotcom was...
whea dem google raids huh 'merica?
(so too, any search engine, cloud servers or hosting sites etc etc.)

here's an idea america: sue the internet!
sue sony for making writable tapes, CDs, DVDs... sue every ISP for knowingly allowing access to this content... sue, world-police, sue sue!

but nnooooooo. previously eccentric fat previously hackers are a much cushier target.

dotcom had ONE server in america (and a dozen more worldwide) which is what the US ("criminal") litigation is based on. result= worldwide shutdown.
dotcom IS NOT/WAS NOT responsible for USER's content.

    america can suck my balls.

funny, when my brother was travelling through the middle east and africa, one of the first thing the guides taught them to say in native-speak was "i'm not american, don't shoot"
    true story.

    +1
i sincerely hope that the US govt, from the individual agents to the people at the very top, to the people behind the companies etc etc, get sued into poverty, then hanged.

We did, I remember going to the bakeries for my daily jelly doughnut that there was a sign "We do not sell croissants"
For once, I was proud of our Police force the day they captured the frogs.

Go back? He's not a yank - he's a flamboyant German uber geek residing in NZ.

the authorities will only be red faced about their craven compliance with the US backfiring on them. It's about time the police heirachy grew some balls and stopped being so overtly and cravenly political in their actions. A police force should be totally neutral in it's dealings with the public, and act on the law of the land in which they reside - not jump to every political whim of whatever government is currently in office! The whole Dotcom thing is about far more than so-called piracy. It's about the US, once again flexing it's muscles and trying to whip it's "allies" into line.
At least the Judiciary have a level of independace and are prepared to exercise it - not fall cravenly into line, like the police, the politicians and the media!

i was under the impression he residided in the US before coming here,

as for ther warrants, they have not been found illigal in their entirety, more just the infomation gathered might have been to broad, a legal technicallity, which does not effect the charges, but does effect the court case that will be faught in the US maybe,

I agree that the US rode roughshot and rushed off with the info, but old Dotcom was a bit better than poor old Osama who they just flew in and shot,

Then you are saying the same thing that I am saying.

It won't be long now before the people take the government back from the government - certainly if this sort of shit continues to go down and people continue to speak about it.

The main problem, is the third person in the triad with the government and the police is very persuasive. Who is this third person? The media. The trick now is to force the media to bite the hand that feeds, and that won't be easy. Perhaps this is why the govt wants so strongly to make amends with artists and broadcasters - because if they don't, the media having it's income stream being protected all this time will turn on them as their revenue dries up.

Google : Wallmart and Government and you will soon learn its not just our tiny little country that gets this.

Those who think governments rule the world are rather naive.
Hell google : Fonterra and Government and you will see that even NZ companies boss people around.

There will be no revolution, because the same idiots vote for the same corrupt politicians. All JK has to say is "jump", and his devotees respond by saying "how high?". He still has more support than any other politician, and this sort of thing will become the norm because of it. People will only wake up once NZ has been sold out to China, and by that stage it will be too late.

Laughing at ourselves is a NZ national pastime I.E. our politicians, our justice department, our police etc, where "our" = "us", you and me!

Collectively as a nation we are a fucking basket case!

No, he doesnt: His company provides an ability for third parties to do that. He is likely complicit by omission (in effect he does not know or want to know what files people are hosting on his servers): and he has publicly said that his sites comply with the DCMA when requested. Not sure aout that, but what is abundantly clear is that the NZ Govt, at the behest of the biggest of big brothers went of half cocked, the po po in true cowboy fashion went "Fuck yeah, we've got all these toys, lets roll" and the now the NZ Govt, its PRi Munster, uts Justus Munster, and its Pleece force come off looking like a bunch of dicks.

Not only that, but they shat all over the court order that said "the information stays in NZ": the FBI went "Screw that" cloned the drives and flitted. So much for our status as an ally and soveregn nation.
