I think you'll find that the BBC experience shows that's not what you get with broadcasting funded by theft from people who happen to own TV's. You just get irredeemably biased lefty propaganda on every issue.

For fuck's sake, the sooner TVNZ7 is gone, the sooner the fucking whingeing stops. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

Never before in the history of humanity has so much fuss been made over a channel that nobody watches (to the nearest significant figure) and which recycles content already broadcast on other channels, apart from that questionable Russell Brown media show and the extremely inane Linda Clarke "legal" show.

Get over it people, and move on.

Sorry Hitcher but I for one will be saddened at the loss of 7. I watched my 6 yr old son last month watch a science show with vic reeves throwing various forms of fruit from a 5 storey crane. He then deduced that if he threw his older sister from the same height her head would split right open like a watermelon. He'll store and use this information later in life I'm sure of it. Great channel

Yeah...(sigh) but surely there must be some avenue for intelligent programing. My dear old mum watches BBC and assorted docos on Sky incl TV7, she isn't going to want to learn about using a computer.

The Brits have BBC1 for this, why can't we have TV1 screening thoughtful stuff?!

So what you're saying is, to generate lefty propaganda you need to force people to pay for it, because as Fairfax shows nobody actually want to pay for that, but if you want to have a commercially successful channnel you need to create something like Fox?

LOL there is an awful truth to that. Fairfax have leftish editors and reporters but rely on moderate people to buy their papers = falling circulation. Its ironic that Fairfax's biggest shareholder is fairly rightwing and shes making a lot of noise about how Fairfax is losing money hand over fist.

Much as I admire socialist politics it's instructive to realise that it relies upon good old capitalism to survive.

No one would be able to make money out of it because any other financial input would add biase.
You might be able to ask for donations, or charge a small small small fee to watch.
It would probably work best as web based anyway coz airspace is sewn up in this country.
I would be 1st in the queue to offer support and to be a part of the revolution
Would any one like to start a poll?
    Interesting idea!

Our house has been TV free for 8 years now.
    Don't miss it a bit.

If you don't like what is on TV, try getting rid of it, I bet you will be surprised by how little you miss it.

Been enjoying Choice in the last few days, it's actually got some really good stuff on it... there are some dudes trying to drive across the Sahara in a Ford Bronco they bought for 100 pounds...
