Rossi has signed for Yamaha for one more year,

I'm pleased, I was wondering.

It was reported at the end of last year that in the event he won the 2005 MotoGP title he would subsequently be one of the worlds top paid sports personalities.

If, when contemplating his wealth he gained a new sense of his mortality, he wouldn't be the first to remove the risk so as to be able to enjoy what he has.

Unlike most of the other current riders Rossi is a fan of the sport, he does know the history and the deeds of those who came before. His efforts with the flag last weekend indicate that he has a sense of his own place in that history. He may yet have unfinished business

yea, but he was on far less than that when he was with HRC and is only now really starting to rake in the big bucks with Yamaha. He also managed to negotiate a let less publicity efforts/stunts into his contract, which gives him far more time to himself to enjoy some of the luxuries of life. Bloody good on him I say.
