    Urethane foam

Where does one source urethane foam from? Looking to use it for mold making as it doesn't turn to crap when covered in resin.
Also, who have you dealt with buying fiberglass and carbon fiber before?
I'll be making a few parts in the near future from carbon, but that'll be another thread.

    Thanks guys

Most boat builders can put you onto commercial faom and resin supplies. A lot depends on the quantity as it goes for miles unless you are useless at glassing like me. Then it all ends up on the floor and on your boots.

Use more than one, it'll make the parts stronger

I used http://www.nzfibreglass.co.nz/, they do both, competitive fibreglass prices, not sure on the carbon stuff though, never used or investigated it. You rang para rubber about the foam? Be first place I'd try, maybe dotmar engineering plastics after that...

    Thanks for that.
I'll be making some plugs for seat/tank units and going over 'em with gelcoat and making a fiberglass plug from that...if that makes sense?

If Mr Britten could make three motorbikes out of one roll of carbon imagine what you could do if you got hold of 5 rolls

A very large, but somewhat light, mess?

    What, a 300m roll? Or a 100m one? Or a 50m one?

Just cover the foam in latex based house paint to stop the resin attacking it.

Considering ducatilovers budget I think those numbers need to be followed by double m's

Urethane foam and resins are available from Sp-High Modulus.
    Marine area here.

Carbon FIBRE (correct spelling, not the naff US way) is also available from them.

Tell them what you are using it on and that you are looking for ends of rolls/offcuts etc, as they do have and sell smaller bits & pieces.

Top notch, thanks very much, off cuts will be too small for what I'm wanting to do.
Best local price I've found so far is $50m2 of 3k 200gm/m2 stuff. Which isn't mind blowingly expensive (or cheap...)
Will have a chat to them

Their "off cuts" need to be taken in the context of a boat. Something the size of a fuel tank or fairing is normally something that gets thrown into the bin.
