Nah, you're missing my point too bro......
I'm not saying they're Dr Do-little.... I'm saying they do work their butts off, and it's evident with the sweat pissing off them after a race, BUT....
They do not make me change my lines - they just make it harder for me to hold the line I want.
This whole swinger/licence/stamps thing is about how much experience a passenger needs before they can do National races.
I totally disagree with the current licensing system as it stands.
Drew swung on his first attempt on my chair at 98% race pace - he was dragged ('cause I tried to drag him) but he never fell off and never made me change my lines. I wanted to scare him - and I think I did.... maybe??
Using Kick as an example (not because I want to pick on Kick at all...

), I know I could flick him off within 2 laps if I tried.
I wouldn't finish the race, but I could make my point. That is, Kick has years and years of racing under his belt (along with years and years of pies...), and he would still be subjected to falling off and being injured even though he is an experienced passenger.
Geling as a team, and learning the riders technique is far more important for a passenger than going round and round doing the same things over and over without understanding what he is doing.
And hey, when you do crash, you still get to blame the passenger - cause everybody thinks they steer the rig anyway.....!!
