The plan with Danger Dave's chair was to cut the hole and glass in a 1/2" pipe as suggested (already been thought about).
Is anyone able to provide pics of right hand side outer fairing grab handles so we (I) can fab something up before HAGD in 2 weeks?
I realise everyone's ideas of grab handles differ due to personal style, but it'd be good to have a few suggestions. Being a new team, I reckon it'd be easiest to make them get used to something that works rather than what we could come up with that might not.

Dont put them at full arm stretch, make it so the passengers elbow is quite bent, I could explain, but just take my word for it.
Some have three in a row, but better to have one, in the right place.

the holes it already has should work

other than that each swinger is different.. I added and removed stuff when I was swinging until I was comfortable. and my current swinger insisted I added a new grip as he couldn't get comfortable with its original setup..

So I guess you will have to get on the bike and just have a think about where you want the grips to be to allow you to transition quickly and smoothly at speed with the gforces acting against or with you.

maybe sidecar bob or scrivy can chuck up photos of their outfit so you can see rough positions of where their hand holds are. seems to work for them at the front of the pack!

there should be pics of my bike somewhere in this thread.. it also has grab rails rather than holes cut into the fairing. (except for one on the right side, but there is a grab rail further up behind the riders butt)

There is no hole on the outer right so leaving it as is is super easy

oh man, that's like 280 pages of dribble to look through. Guess I might have to do that after work, after I refit the inner right handle (if I can find where I put it) and make up the moulds for the new knee cups and mount the airbox properly and make up the temp sensor adaptor...
Looks like I'll be busy for the next two weeks...

couple photos of my bike.. as you can see there are just rails everywhere so you can pretty much throw out your hand and grab something - not very elegant.. but meh. its been like that since forever. We added an LCR or modern style upright bar in the passenger tray for my swinger - he loves it.. I swung on this bike and never felt the need for that tho - but everyones different. The right side does actually have a hole cut out of the fairing, there is also a grab rail behind the riders butt.. both work well especially when you are laid over the back wheel you sorta grip that hand hold with your fingers and squeeze your elbow in etc and grip with the whole side of your body as you lay over the rear. (if that makes sense)

added a photo of danger daves bike - note how the swinger is doing it.. maybe thats how its done? haha

here is a video of Dave's windle in action around Ruapuna.. maybe u can spot what the passenger is up to etc.. from 6.00 minutes on it tracks Daves windle and it zooms in to see the passenger going through some right and left handers.. looks like there was a bar/hand hold attached to the sidepod? but can't see much of the right side.. you can see on my bike there is just a hole cut in the fairing on the right side and it works well.

Cheers for the photos and video Kai

The hole we are looking at doing on the right is almost same as where the hole on your one is, just to help in the right handers.

6 Minutes into the race, and Anon and Warwick still weren't leading yet...

Musta over heated the clutch on take off.

PS, I only watched from 6 minutes. There is a slight chance they were lapping the whole field, but doing that five laps in to a race raises an eyebrow.

Something I learnt back when I did workoutty stuff, was that ya should never 'hang' fully extended when doing pull-ups/chin-ups. Bad for the joints.

Suppose it's something to do with that? Go over large unexpected bump/object on road/track, get dislocation...

I think you'll find, it's just so there's room for error. Ya don't wanna go grabbing for the hold on the right when the riders got the welly right up it, and come up short. Or be hanging on for grim death at full extension when ya hop a curb or summat.

dunno bout weight lifting, the deadlift see's you lifting well over 100kg on full extended arms..

but yea on the chairs as a swinger I usually kept bent arms.. and broken fingers..
