That was pulled directly from the NZ Pre 82 rules.
We could always just have no rules like pre 76 currently does.
No Rules...cool, Gordies BMW would be awesome with a blower.

That hasn't really worked that well with Pre82 solos

There will always be chequebook racers regardless of class

A brand new ten is only a few bucks more than a brand new smaller slick, however this was more aimed at the pre 82 guys catching the second hand ten inch F1 tyres as they get chucked by the modern guys. We all do that, so no point in essentially ruling against it.
13 or 14inch diameter? most of the modern F1 long bikes use 14 so if 14 was allowed it means a lot more old tyres coming through

No, it hasn't has it. My pre 82 bike would be the cheapest in the top ten by a huge margin & it broke the pre 89 lap record on Boxing Day by over 1.5 seconds.

Aprox what year did LCR go to 14 inch? I was aware the really new stuff was 14.
What sort of performance advantage would a bike with 14's have over the same bike with 13's?

There seems to be a bit of negativity regarding the proposed rules and formation of a pre 82 sidecar class, why? Good on you Sidecar Bob for kicking it off. My mate and i brought an old sidecar from Des James [ a kitset one with lots of parts missing] We have a Kawasaki gpz500 engine for it and were planing to put it together and use it to do track days to learn on before we move up and race on the Agip bike . Now we would have a class to race this sidecar in too, all we would need to do is fit a pre 82 engine [probably a 500 two stroke] cool. Ours will be running by August

Yeah, maybe you can tell me why. I wonder if putting it up for public discussion may be a mistake. Perhaps a "here's the fuckin rules like them or not" approach would be better, but you try to include everyone & try to do what's best for all. There's always nay Sayers.
I'll polish them up in the next few weeks with the help of the people at the two South Island rounds I am attending & they will be gospel by the end of Feb at the latest.
It's pretty simple really, just build shit with materials & equipment & in the style of the pre 82 period.
It beggars belief that it even needs to have rules.

I'm not sure what year they changed, supposedly they give better traction

We have 14 inch on ours which is a 1991 and they are an older style of wheel but I think it was a bit later than that when they intoduced them
