Got my newly rewound alternator back and bolted on on Saturday - pumps out the right volts now......
But there still isn't an increasing voltage at the battery...... and I've tried two rectifiers...... Gunna change the battery tomorrow and see if its fucked......
Can't think what else it could be......
    Mechanically inept..........

Waiting for Pops Sowersby to give me back the modified gearchange and brake levers, and front trail plates before Wangas.
If it doesn't miss, and the brakes work, I should be closer to the front at Wangas..... (maybe)
Is it still beastiality if ya fuck a frozen chicken??

when you say it pumps out the right volts, what are the right volts? best way to check whether it's charging is a clip on ammeter on the alternator wires set on AC

the voltage won't always leap up as it may take time for the battery to absorb the charge; then increase the voltage.

Manual says it should be a no load ac voltage of 65 volts (unpluged from rectifier etc). It is now after the rewind, but there is no increase at the battery (when plugged back in)....
My road Busa shows about 14.7 volts at the battery straight after its started. The sidecar shows no change....
I will try the battery change out tomorrow - as it was missing intermittantly at HD - and I suspect the battery now (maybe)....
Could explain why I said to Bob it felt down on power........

Not that you'd be making excuses at all
"If you can make black marks on a straight from the time you turn out of a corner until the braking point of the next turn, then you have enough power."

I also was only running on 3 to 3.5 cylinders..

but have made no effort to rectify the problem as of yet.. 4cyl might be too fast for me.

the price of new genuine yamaha ignition leads was enough to put me off...

also need to sus out temp and rpm gauge so I can maybe be a little less rough on it and try keep the engine alive for as many meetings as I can! only got 1 motor and a few spares for it.

4 weeks til Wangas! jeez this is like BSTT all over again.. the waiting! the excitement haha

maybe the reg/rec is buggered? not rectifying it from AC to DC so the battery won't wanna know about it?

or the battery is faar gone...

I tried both of my rectifiers (both measured up the same in the diode testing), and both gave no increase at the battery.
Like I said, I'll get home tonight and try a newer battery......
Failing that, I'll burn down my garage with the chair in it, and claim insurance.....

Well ive finally recovered from the weekend.
This inconsiderate prick called Drew popped in 10.30am Saturday with a big box of Heineken & we proceeded to polish the lot off & my stock as well. Nek minnit it was 6.30pm & we were pissed & sunburnt.
Sunday, find my trailer at Gordys place, travel to Hamilton & shift Jay, drive across Hamilton, pick up Agip sidecar from Nev's & back to Jays for a barbie & home a bit too late.
Have to say, Nev has done some fantastic work on Agip, in a way that only he can. The guy has his own standards of workmanship & quality.
We also gave his Matchy a run for the first time in two years, after it chucked a rod on his back lawn, just before Phillip isl 2010.
It sounded awesome & just needed a minor belt alignment before its ready to rock & roll.
