lets not forget that MOTO GP is first and foremost a business

Nicky Hayden is a very nice guy,PR dream, never says much controversial or negative, and still often beats Valentino.

Also as has been stated is an American, which is a very big part of Ducati sales, being that the Japanese have targeted Asia, and in particular Indonesia(satu Hati anyone)

Ducati know they will only sell a handful of machines in south east asia and will need to push europe, japan and american markets, which coincidentally happen to be where their two current factory riders are from....

The teams are now merely a marketing machine, and where a rider is from is almost as important as lap times these days

Im picking if ducati cant win moto GP,they will send Mr Hayden to try and do the business in WSBK

Yup I remember a number of years ago it was an open secret that Repsol (a Spanish company) demanded Honda have a Spanish (Pedrosa) rider in the Spanish-run series (being MotoGP).

Good. Hopefully Audi will fix the bike and he'll have his best year ever next season. Things are lining up that way.

I have a great story about Nicky Hayden when I went to the Philip Island GP in 09, too long to type but the crux is I briefly met him, he was pushed for time but was very accommodating. (I have the autograph pic to prove it).
Genuine nice bloke, he didn't have to stop but he did, this is the stuff he will be remembered for. He went from being one of my favs to my outright favourite.

    Yes, that is quite true.

My granson sent me a pic taken at KL with Nicky who was all smiles. Being cynical, I thought he was posing with a cardboard cutout - but he wasn't.

Hopefully Ducati do something with the dog bike for next year, but still I am just happy that Nicky has a ride.

My neighbour said pretty much the same thing. Sounds like Nicky is just a genuine good guy. He always seems to be the under dog in GP but even the under dogs have god-like riding skills!
