So we should give up trying to improve it and let it descend into some fascist state?
It is only so good because we wont accept fascist People complaining when authorities go overboard are what keeps them in check.

All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to stand back.

    Captain obvious!

Of course improvement is good, but we are not a fascist state! Not even close. So please explain how busting up a bunch of drunk pricks blocking streets and kicking cars is 'authorities going overboard'.

I'm not in anyway saying we should stand back with our cocks in our hands and watch the government take the wrong turn. However it's not the end of the world when the Government makes a bad call, the public will let them know well enough when the elections swing round or a referendum gets filed.

How about the reports of beating up woman waiting on taxis no where near the original party site, or chasing the customers away from Macas that were just waiting on their orders and again not at the original party site? These 'innocents' got caught up because the police were herding the party goers in their direction, putting them in the firing line rather than protecting the innocent and then the police were the ones that assaulted them before the party goers even got there.

There were mistakes made that need to be addressed. Of course the biggest mistake was the retard what decided an open invitation party at a residential address would be a good idea. The party wasn't just for the twins, it was in honour of 5 birthdays, that's got to generate a lot of party goers. Just because I believe the police have to own up to their mistakes so they can do better next time doesn't mean I don't also think it might be a good thing if Mummy and her precious twin weren't ex-kiwis if thsi is how they behave.

I had my student years when I knew everything and joined a protest regarding CHOGM - then the police in riot gear showed up, did I hang around? no damn way. For these brats that want to cause a public disturbance, I thought they would rather go home than confront batons and dogs - obviously its cooler to confront the law. Idiots.
Strange as it may seem to some, this sort of behaviour has been going on forever, I attended several similar parties in the 1950's!

One in particular saw the whole house absolutely trashed, torn to bits by the absolutely mad drunken crowd.

Didn't have all the flash cell phones etc as today but word still got around just the same and piss was bloody expensive in those days too!

Stupid (extreme) behaviour just happens among stupid people, so don't expect much change soon!

In some ways I reckon the modern kids are the best, the media just concentrate on the behaviour of a small percentage of wankers for their (apparent) news value!

Media unfortunately give so much attention to the minor destructive elements, rather than focus on the normal well behaved groups and this is translated as rewarding the miscreants as being the group to belong to!

A lie repeated often enough soon becomes accepted as the truth! ... Oldest political ploy in the book!

Would that be from the same reporting source that stated the Police used rubber bullets?

Not really sure the media is reporting accurately on any of this.

It would be interesting to hear from those crying 'fascist police state' how THEY would disperse an agro crowd of 170 odd drunken teenagers....

Mixed source. Heard the police were carrying shot guns long before seeing the media mentioned of rubber bullets , as to what they were loaded with?? But you seem convinced they didn't have rubber bullets, what's your source?

Probably Maori party or Greens if you are asking about the parents. Make that Maori party, they seem to like parties. As for the kids, next election will be their first chance, don't you feel proud?
