Where do you go, and why? Not Orklind. Probably not Welly.

If you are not happy and contented where you are ... chances are things will not be any different anywhere else that you end up!

We live where we are because it's just about as good as it gets ... can't think of anywhere else we would rather be!

No! No! No! You'd hate Central Otago. the winters are far too cold. The temperatures hasn't climbed above -1.5C all day, and I had a layer of frost on my gloves when I rode to work this afternoon.

The summers are far too hot. You have to buy kevlar jeans because its far too hot to wear leathers. The days are too short in both spring and autumn and you can only ride 18 - 20 hours per day before you have to stop and put on some cold weather gear.

The traffic is rapidly becoming congested. I saw 6 cars on my 10 km ride to work today, and actually had to give way to one of them.

The summer fruit is so plentiful that you just can't stop eating it and that can have other secondary effects.

You would hate Central Otago. Might I suggest Dorkland, as they get all the money spent on infrastructure to alleviate the climatic and traffic issues.

Coromandel, Napier, Nelson or Papamoa/ Mt Maunganui. Buy a nice place somewhere by the beach and work hard at reducing stress levels.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.

But really if I was in your position with a good asset base and the ability to work almost anywhere, I would be kicking back in Malta, Cyprus or Florence.

If the gangs don't do you in first! from what I hear, Nightcaps is more than a little rough.

Fair point, but in terms of background, we had had two very bad years before the earthquakes then the earthquakes came along and all of a sudden the building I worked in wasnt there any more, the town I knew is changed forever, there are infrastructure and some work issues and all of a sudden the idle conversation over dinner becomes "Fuck it, we could actually do that if we wanted to".

Its just speculation at present. And it might stay that way. But then again.

Gangs, in Nightcaps. Must be invisible. I love southland, been here nearly 20 yrs, one thing wrong with it is the winters. I have been thinking about selling up and looking for somewhere north of Hokatika on the west coast. But now I am thinking more along the lines of just buying a place up there, and keep this place for summer and fuck off for the winter. The world is my oyster.

I saw a gang member in Nightcaps once. He was driving a late model commonwhore with red and blue indicators on the roof.

Ok so I havnt read past post #1... but heres my 2c worth,
I know what ya mean I found myself well over chch the people and all the on going shit... so considering its not all about work and having 2 sprogs I chose to head 50k out of chch, nice wee country area and take a pay drop by working out side of chch. If I need to go in I can but ya know what? most shit can be delt with, with out the city. End result IMO beter life style, more relaxing, and beter upbringing for the runts.
    cheers DD
