Its so simple.................. but so difficult
If all the people who are trying to go it alone came together it maybe possible. + official support.
I have two theories about it actually.
The first is that it really does take an official body or authority to take up the cudgel before serious sponsors will get on board, I think. Without that, any potential sponsors will only see it as a bloke or two trying to run a race team.
The second is that we are our own worst enemies and are too set on doing our own things to consider joining forces. We all think that our way is the best way and anyone elses way won't work. Some people just do want to do their own thing, OK, no worries, but others set things up hoping that others will join in, but get no support.
Think about it and tell me I am wrong.
And I know that I am not innocent in that regard, but I for one have consistently asked for people to join Moto Academy NZ to help grow it and make it stronger, but no one has come forward, right since I started on this folly in late 2007. This is not to say that I have the best system available, but I do have a system operating and one that works.
Anyway, I think we can probably leave that dream on the shelf.

when the people who ride, the people who manage and the people that run meetings finally get together and decide to stop entertaining themselves and hardly anyone else and start to look at a business model that will entertain and engage the public, keep sponsors in the sport and provide a platform for youngsters entering the sport with something meaningful to look forward to instead of a drained bank account.......
Then, and only then, will the sport that I still love dearly and have personally put countless hours and dollars into start to claw its way back from the place it currently finds itself in.
Its a long way up from here.....

the money is hard to come buy because we are small, very small, italy's population is 60 million, 15 times out population, so a comparison is very hard to make, thier motorcycle and scooter industry is more than 15 times ours as well so getting manufacture support is alot easier as well, (and the fact they have a motorcycle manufacturer's there helps a heap as well)
If you want to hear some telling opinions, have a watch of the pre race press conference of this weekends Laguna Seca round of Moto GP
according to Mr Rossi and Mr Edwards, all is definitely not well in the world of motorcycles in Europe and the USA
Its all up to Asia to keep the factories afloat at the moment.

Seriously mate, where the hell have you been the last 4 years, lol? Whole countries are basically bankrupt, every small business owner is haemoragging financially, economists see no end in sight, but Rossi/Edwards speak and NOW you see a problem? Too funny.
But, you're absolutely right with your comments regarding a buisness model. It's frustrating as hell to see such a great product, and people (both organisers and competitors) putting in such huge effort, for basically no return. There needs to be one single promotor, and one single team running our premier events, rather than individual clubs basically duplicating each other efforts and relearning lessons other clubs have already learned.
Don't get me wrong, our clubs put in superhuman efforts but the National Champs are basically a series of club events. In some ways this is great from an approachability point of view but when it comes to maximising promotion and growth of the series it's going to be an uphill battle.
