    eek Hello, and Hi (Barend)

    Hi all,

My name is Barend, (I know, now you looking at my nickname thinking “how original”)… anyway….

I’m new to the forum (hence this lovely post) and recently decided to get back into riding after a good few good years away…

Before I went and bought a bike, I went around to all my mates (as well as the bike shops) asking for advice regarding what bike I should get to allow myself to “ease” back into riding, and well, as all good things go, I ignored all of it… In my defence I couldn’t help myself from getting a new Gixxer. So, now I’m riding a GSX-R 600 (L1)…

Haven’t been riding much in NZ, and don’t YET know many people to ride with, but I’m sure that will change soon.

    So that’s me for now…

there's a number of different groups who ride from auckland often..
On facebook there is Fat Bikers Motorcycle Club (FBMC), East Auckland Motorcycle Group (EAMG), and New Zealand Motorbike Riders group - that I know of. People often pop on and ask if someone is going for a ride, or you can organise one..

plus you can do it here too..

Welcome! Is that a German name? It's more efficient to have the same username as your first name so don't worry about it. I tried to get Blair, but it was taken, so I added two characters to it.

Good choice! My previous bikes were Gixxers. That's how I learnt to ride. I'm riding my first Honda at the moment though.

I'm regretting not doing that myself. Although I did sign up with another account that has my first name in it. Might just swap to using that..

    hey Guys

Yeah the more I think about it, the more it makes sense to use your real name.
As for your question Blair, its more Dutch than German, but close tho...

Mmm, Dutch and German are fairly close but I should have known the difference. You mention you haven't been riding in NZ. Where have you previously been riding/living? Are you Dutch or South African, or something else all together?

A hard choice but a good choice. I bet you won't be disappointed.

You might enjoy going to go to one of these SASS or NASS events. Sadly I rock climb with friends on Wednesday evenings now so I can't do them.

My Mates would tell you that im something else all together,
but from South Africa. Had a GSXR400 when I got into NZ about 4 year ago, but that only lasted about 3 months...

Where is the best places to go rock climbing? That's a sport I have been wanting to try out but something always came up...

Would they say you're from another planet? Oh, what happened to the GSXR400 after 3 months? Did you sell it, was it stolen, or was there an accident?

I started indoor climbing at Extreme Edge out in Panmure last week. Sadly there's nothing in the CBD, but this place is 15-20 minutes ride away.

Had to sell it, but long story behind it...
will tell you all about it, just not on such an open forum as there might be allot of harsh words used when sharing that tale

Thanks for the link, will have a look... might see you out there at some point.
ill be easy to spot, likely be dangling on a rope, stuck in the middle of no where...
