Bummer! Shame to hear you had an off, but hey, any off you can walk away from isn't all bad...oh hang on, there's the no-claims bonus dilemma

We've all had moments of distraction, if anyone reckons they haven't they'll surely be telling a fib

Hope you get the bike all sussed and sorted before the summer season

Yep it's that "You fucking idiot" moment that is the worst aye.
Glad you made it out of the mire and aren't hurt yourself. Definitely get another lid and scratch one up for Kevlar jeans.
Back on the bike asap too OK.

I try to drop a bike every 5-10 years. Gives me the much needed wake up call on a more regular basis
Not to mention the accidents are usually slower and safer if you do them more often

It was maybe a 20mm drop max and I went right into it, it felt like a gigantic tramline as the bike wanted to go left off the road. I was lucky to keep the bike straight and come up out of it square on to where the dropped seal ended. Bit of a sphincter testing moment. Since then I've been a little more circumspect in how much I clear the side of the road by, even more so on back country roads. It only takes one seconds drop off in concentration and you're in the brown smelly stuff (literally and figuratively).
YUP had the edge been dry (probably slippery under the water too) I think could have made it, but it did indeed feel like a tramline when it slipped over it.. but ending up in the smelly brown stuff? YUKKKKK, DAMHIK

Taking the MT to TSS in a few minutes.. depending on if they say it's structurally (forks etc) sound whether I continue riding it, or have to take the ZZR off hold.
Sussed before summer??? mate I dont own a car... she's my only transport (bike).... better be fixed real quick... which being a low volume produced bike? That's going to be a bit unlikely

It's precisely why it bothers me hearing people on here going on about racing lines and apexes - especially to new riders.

Apexes on the track have little to be worried about.

    Different story on the road.

Had a great afternoon over the 'rapa riding a circuit from Martinboro, Gledstone, then back to Martinboro taking the turn off from the Gledstone rd..... almost got home then ran into Vicki on her can am going out to pick up an item she'd bought. So off we went over the Kapiti coast.
Now I know people like Katman luuuurv to get into this and spew out a diatribe, so details are going to be sparse for that very reason.
Simply put, entered a tight 25k bend, and did not enter it in the correct line, for a specific 'reason'....... big bike, heavy, leant over, wrong line (too wide) and a 'step' right on the road edge where layers of tar end. Front wheel 'dropped' on this... wet ditch to the side and slippery entry.... One MT lying in shite in a ditch, and rider sitting on his arse in the road. A seconds loss of focus just on entry to the bend? Presto, one fucked bike. Well its still ridable but scratched up and some bodywork damage.

HUH??? Katman stay on 'track' so to speak... nowhere was there any mention of apexing the corner or racing line... just an admission to entering the bend on an INCORRECT line, and a few Km's to fast (no more than 30). Stop trying to 'hijack' to suit your own agenda and giving out false impressions, please.... thank you!

I was behind you when we left Rimutex, Graywolf, was doing 120k trying to keep up, and then after pulling over with the group and starting off again, was in front of you.. realised I couldn't take the 'takas at that speed/potentially held everyone up so abandoned ride.

Don't think he was talking about you at all. Plainly anybody who can run wide at 25k on the Paekark hasn't even a nodding aquaintance with a racing line or apexing anything other than his own arsehole... so chill the fuck out
