    Dogs'n'Mels four points

After getting the bike sorted and Mel finishing work early on Thrusday,we headed over too Ashhurst for the night with Black clouds looming......on arrival it didn't take long for the heavens too open upand I had too go pick up my leathers from Sam at Celtic leather as he was installing and emergancy pie strip....I was lucky enough to be able to borrow Monnies car for this chore....

Once back at the meanie's we were treated too a wonderful dinner prepared by their boarder,a meal that I would off happily paid for if I was at a resturant but I wasn't this was Ashhurst....So a early night for all as we had a early start the girls wanted 6am the boys wanted 5am I wanted 10minutes before yod arrived...

    Day One east cape
WoooWhoo its morning time, time to get up and on the road get breakfast in our bellies and we are on our way at 530ish first stop dannievirke yod neglected to fill his bike up the night before

On the road again some morning dampness but overall the roads were good fill up both body and bike in bayview and head onto Gisborne, roads getting dryer and the morning air warmer, another quick stop and then on too Tologa Bay wharf and the epic walk too the end and then even a bigger walk back into a head wind, not sure where the wind had came from but do know if the concours had off been parked at the begining of the Wharf we would of been sheltered it was also mentioned that the wind was caused by the girls having a conversation ahead of us

Right back on the bikes and next stop East cape ok the eastern shop this was a bit of humor as we pulled into too gas up we had to go fined the gas-up guy at the shop this took like forever but we got there then off too the RSA too get our card oh shite the Rsa is closed sign say's you can get your card at the eastern Shop(we just cam from there)so back around the block too get our card and go too the other shop too get a bite where all but I got and Ice Block/cream and as the photo susgest it looks like a old folks day out

Back on the road again and straight through to Opokiti still the roads were good and still had the uneven surface signs everywhere and a good pace kept by all not too fast not too slow just about right..some road works and some cow shit but hey this is the east coast

We fuel up and make the final push through to katikati where we are staying the night on the way we do a final top up and a booze buy (not that anyone really drank any that night ) arriving at katikati too a warm welcome by the family it didn't take long for everybody to relax let there hair down (except monnie her hair was pointing everyway but down) mom had prepared a wonderful feast for hungry bikers(as mom's do) including two types of dessert

We chattered and laughed everybody felt at home, and its not susprising how small this country is of ours but dad and meanie knew the same people from around Opiki back in the day and Yod and dad talked rugby which we knew would happen anyway

Morning time and everybody was ready for day two after a super breakfast and even better sleep the twins took Mel and monnie up too feed the pet goats and lamb and a qucik ride on the back of uncles daytona we hit the road again about 8am

Now back on the road and off too the service centre at dairy flat Flip thre is some plonkers in this part of the world but thats another story will let meanie tell that one

Time too head north and the traffic was'nt too bad, making good time as small groups do,there is a few bikes out and about and it was like that the entire weekend, may off had something to do with the weather but we made it too Oakliegh were we fuelled

and sorted out our next track up the centre through Twin Bridges but first we had to find our way too Maungatapere without going into Whangarei,Which we did even if we over shot the turn off slightly but it was well worth the hunt for this 10k stretch of road and we hadn't even got too the mian objective which was twin bridges

Once at Maungatapere I saw a Harley pull out off a drive way heading in the same direction so Thought it may be a good idea too sit behind this guy being local and allbut it was'nt really so we had too Pass him Gheez monnie how does it feel passing a hog on a VFR???now funny enough the P plate on this hog was WLHOG
so after about 20 K's or so Yod finks its a good idea too pull me over saying thats there is fliud coming from the back wheel and That I am leaving trails inh the corners Conclusion is that I was digging up the road while powering through the corners

meanwhile WLHOG pass's us while we have stopped bugger lets pass him again so off we went again and chase down WLHOG once again on our way too Kaikohe and on too the Mangamuk's oh what a ride and as we came though Mangamuka Village we came across a couple of biker's pootling along (who were later discovered too be Maha & Mom) but as the Mangamuks were calling our names and despite the road works on them it was still a super ride refulled in Kaitia where Maha turned up too the Caltex too say Hi,so a quick Chat and them off too our 3rd card pick-up

and them cheak out our digs for the night (only two things missing a green ZX9 and a mud hole)

we drop of our gear and deciede to go too Cape reinga stooping at the cafe at Waitiki landing for dinner which was much needed and the host was a hoot the place even came with a drive through window and then onto the cape

    Day Three

    The serch for breakfast

Well with a casual start too the day and hoping too get breaky in Houhora which we would if we wanted too wait another 45 minutes or so we decide too head too kaitaia for breaky when some mad as snow man and a honda machanic show up heading to the cape its was Ken who we did the lake ferry section of the ride,a quick chat and we are off in opposite directions...

after finishing breakfast we hit the road again and head too catch the Rawene, taking the back roads withs lots of uneven surface signs the ride was still great just at the right pace we pass a couple of other's from the yellow ribbon brigade who were heading too the same ferry, upon arrival it wasn't long before the ferry show up and we were boarding...first they loaded the bus and then the concourswe think that was for weight distribution...once the remaining vehicals were loaded we were off,we did have a camper van parked next too us and orders were placed for coffee, which we never got

once the tourist thing was done it was time too get busy and head south first stop Dargaville for fuel then onto Wellsford and SH16 the traffic wasn't bad and the roads were pretty good even the coppers we encontered were'n interested in us so no complaints from us,so south we headed and out through AKLD and too papakura kawakawa bay and on too Ngatea now that stretch of road was rather nice alot more bikes down here than we had seen all day as we got too Kawakawa bay we had to have a stop an Ice cream stop as meanie had told our host we would be there about 7 so we had plenty of time and an Ashhurst ride doesn't arrive early its just not herd off

after arriving and Chris and Lizz's in Ngatea we settled in and joked about how the concours could tow the sleep out away(actually there were alot of concours jokes all weekend)

Dinner was a BBQ so once again we were well feed and slept even better and bright in early too head south too catch up with cowboyz and sarge in Te Kuiti where we finally meet the velosianator
