Enjoy the riding, and yup everything else on the road is 'out to get you'.....
Welcome to KB Tricksy. I quoted GrayWolf because he has said all the things I was going to say to your original post except I will add a couple of points, no point in posting otherwise
When using fog-off give it time to completely dry, no more fumes, or they will make your eyes water which is kind of self defeating. I try to remember to put the fog off on the night before. I also carry a container of cat crap (that Is what it is called) which is a paste for smearing inside the visor and then wiping off, this is in case I get caught without having used the fog-off. The cat-crap was available from most motorcycle stores and I think Leather Direct in Cuba Mall also stocks it, got mine from Wellington motorcycles yonks ago.
Last year the low paced rides had a variety of starting points, the Avalon Duck Pond is their home base so to speak but last year Ratti organised them so some started at Kaiwharawhara and went around the bays or out the coast. Keep your eye peeled as she usually posts a reminder around day light saving start. They start after day light saving so there is more daylight to ride in.
Find a car park or other area of open tar seal and practice the basic handling skills. Look out for some of the more advanced course, hopefully there will be some ACC subsidised ones this summer ($20 for a $300 dollar course is awesome
). You will find that even these more advanced courses have you concentrating on your basic handling skills (at a higher level), counter steering, emergency braking and all that stuff saves lives so practice. Oh and you will find counter steering really useful in the Wellington breeze (gales to others) when it gusts around building etc.
Enjoy your riding.
