    Forms of payment?

When buying a car/bike/something worth lots of cash, whats the best form of payment.

Ideally say it's worth 10k you don't really want to carry this around with you all day.

Say it's the weekend, no banks are open etc aside from cash what are possible forms of payment.

I was suggested having the bank write me out a bank cheque, apparently the funds are guaranteed by the bank to be in there etc.

The banks at Sylvia Park are open 7 days a week. AFAIK Bank Cheques are made out to a specific person/entity, rather than just "cash" but I could well be wrong (it happened once before).

You getting the one with the Swedish suspenders?

Yep. Even crappy little Hamiltron has banks that are open 7 days now.
Bank cheques are traditionally the way to go.

    So where ya headed ?
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

A pre-arranged named Bank cheque is safest. If you get time to get to a bank or Postal shop. Some are open saturday mornings. (costs around $3-$4)
Internet bank transfer is good. Money appears in their account the next day though. ($2 bank fee)

I think there is a set limit on how much you can transfer via online banking. I had to arrange it with the bank prior to making a purchase.

If it's a dealer the sale may be on the weekend with the transaction, payment and vehicle collection on Monday.

I have done a deal at $40k with a cheque and a $20k deal with cash and many smaller ones with a range of internet payment, cheque, cash, personal cheque. I suppose it all depends on what the vendor is comfortable with.

yeah. internet or phone transfer would be the "safe" "cashless" ways to do it.
you could just man up and carry your dough like a pimp.

or trade in methamphetamine. i'm given to understand that 10k would fit in your pocket quite easily.
