Jack Kerouac’s novel ‘On the Road’ is to be made into a film. Francis Ford Coppola will be filming in conjunction with ‘Motorcycle Diaries’ director Walter Salles.
‘On the Road’ chronicles the author's travels through the US and Mexico during the post-war years. Published in 1957, the book thrust Kerouac into the limelight as a spokesman for the ‘Beat Generation’.
Casting will begin in 2006.
(And before Vifferman says it, no, you didn't know about this in 2002. The 2002 attempt to put this together did involve Ford Coppola, but a diferent director was trying to put it together and they were looking at casting Brad Pitt...)
