Bike maintenance course?

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum, riding, and motorbikes in general. I've been trying to find a basic bike maintenance course in Auckland but my google searches keep coming up with
a) nothing
or
b) one off courses from a while back

Does anyone know if these sort of courses are happening regularly anywhere and, if so, can anyone recommend a good one?

I don't think they exist?
Do you have your bikes manual? The GN's manual is amazingly detailed

Yep I've got an electronic copy of the manual and, so far at least, I tend to agree that the courses don't seem to exist.
I'm naturally super cautious though so I'd rather double check to see if there are any courses where someone can walk me through some basic stuff instead of just jumping right in if it's at all possible.

The best course is learning how to do it yourself. Even changing oil+filters is a solid start. If your really keen buy a cheap engine and take that apart. Its all about the small steps

there's heaps of arm-chair pro's from dork-land on here. anything goes wrong they'll be able to sort you out.
else i come down at least monthly. and i'm a grown-up pro. (cos i have no room for an armchair at home)
but really. not much should be going wrong...

Fair enough - I was thinking of preventative maintenance type stuff as opposed to 'hmmm that shouldn't be doing that' repairs but I suppose I'll just sit down with the manual for a bit.

That sort of stuff will be in the hand book. Change the oil, change the oil filter, clean/change air filter (type dependant), oil the chain, oil the cable if cable clutch and/or brake. Oh and put petrol in it.
