Hey Guys, Can anyone recommend a route in Auckland for riding and practice? Just getting prepared for my restricted license test. Cheers

When I did my restricted I rode around central Auckland, although this was on the "old" restricted test.
Went from Quay street up into Parnell, around some roundabouts, back down through a few big intersections and then onto Quay Street.
Only took about 10 minutes.
If you're nervous just practice going through intersections, giving way, stop/starting etc.
There's nothing to it really.
Head out to Maraetai through Whitford for something a little different. Just watch out for the locals during peak commute times.

yeah maraetai, kawakawa, kaiaua, hunua, papakura, auckland is a pretty sweet ride. not so much good if yer "practicing for a test" (and there's some really tight shit north of kaiaua)
what you want is a test-route. from someone who's done one at the station you're booking at.
but if you've been riding for a whilesy it shouldn't be a problem. they don't need to see anything too tricky. just a lot of nodding.
elsewise go the other way, out west. up to huapai pub used to be good, too many 'muters now. unless you take the bac roads.... don buck, scenic drive, etc. else piha, muriwai, karekare, is pretty schweet...
I can vouch for out Maraetai way, on a nice day it makes for one awesome ride. Not too long either. There are plenty of country roads and alternative routes you can take which make it longer too.
I guess it depends what you're wanting to achieve. If you are trying to get more confidence at open road speeds then the above route is good during the day as there is barely any traffic. However if you want "city riding" skills then riding out in the country won't achieve much

I'm new here so I'll ask the dumb question...
Why duct tape?
Who needs a PhD when you have duct tape?
